Food flight, and Detroit flight
Ya know, nobody really NEEDS a meal on a 3 hour flight, but it is a definite marker of time. It’s an event, and it helps your mind parcel out the time in stages. Beverage cart. Meal service. Movie. Sky Mall. Bathroom break. More Sky Mall. Time to land. We see American has done away with free meals in coach on its NY and Miami to St. Thomas flights. You can buy a sandwich or a salad, or a snack box for a few bucks. US Airways has now also done away with the nasty lunch bag with the sweaty cheese and shiny green turkey sandwich. You now buy a fruit and cheese plate or a sandwich on US Airways. Or a “Fun in the Sky Box”. There’s a little more than 720 calories in the Fun in the Sky Box and more than 14 grams of fat. Tisk, tisk. The healthiest thing in there is the unlimited shelf life thimble of salsa.
In other airline news, we note Northwest Airlines’ new Saturday-only Detroit to St. Thomas flight. Dulles? Reagan National? BWI? Anybody, anybody???
