Beer here: The Tap Room
St. John’s draft drought is over. The Tap Room is open for business at Mongoose Junction, and it’s for serious (and not so serious) beer drinkers. No froo-froo umblella drinks here. The proprietors, Cheech Vyas and Kevin Chipman, first made a name for themselves with their home-brewed Virgin Islands Pale Ale…the ale “with a hint of mango.” This is their new venture, and it’s a nice place. We were relieved to see that there is also an outside patio. Meet them, and see their new place in On-StJohn’s newest video interview. Watch it here!

Cheech seems to like his own beer
Definietly checking them out in November. Their little place looks cool. I hope they do well.

I agree…cheech was hysterical. Does he even speak?
Drink baby, drink.

I can’t wait to try the Pale Ale as mango is one of my favorite fruits.
I had to smile at the statement concerning husbands drinking beer while wives shop - that alone should keep their buisness going!

Cheech did speak. He says “We’re making beer!” I bet he didn’t look that happy when he was a Rocket Scientist.
You go, Cheech & Kevin! Best of luck to you.

That’s great! what’s the UVM poster in the background?? Cheech highlights at 2:07 - the extreme close up. I watched that part 2 or 3 times. keep making great brew guys!

Enjoyed your interview–we stopped to visit them on a recent visit to StJ and tasted the ‘mango-ish’ beer–and it was sooo good! As parents of a University of Vermont student, we are really wishing them success—Advice to husbands of shoppers–”try it, you’ll LIKE it!”.

I love VIPA, if I’m not drinking vodka, then I’m drinking Virgin Islands Pale Ale. I also think Kevin and Cheech are really hot.

Yeah! cannot wait to stop by the Tap Room! Wonder what new beers they will come up with, they are a never ceasing duo of beer ingenuity! It is nice to have a space dedicated to brewing that is not in your living room
I cannot wait till an ice cold glass of Virgin Islands Pale Ale is touching my lips again!
Congrats to Kevin and Cheech!

Last week, when I went to BevMo here in SoCal to get my husband a case of VIPA for Valentine’s Day — the perfect gift — they told me they will no longer be carrying it. Say it isn’t so! Guess we’ll have to move up our next trip down to STJ to visit the Tap Room. But in the meantime, I’m letting them know what a mistake that will be… If anyone else would like to join the chorus, we’ll very much appreciate it.
