Happy birthday On-StJohn
We’re one (month) old! How are we doing? No really. Ya gotta tell us. What do you want to see more of. (Or less of. We can take it.) Thanks very much for reading. We’re having fun putting something together every day. And we appreciate the feedback that says you’re enjoying this site too. And as long as that happens, we’ll be more than motivated to keep helping you waste a little of your productivity every day. There are a couple of new features we’re putting together, and we’re willing to tinker with the site to make it more interactive. (But no formal forum. There are already excellent places to go for that.)
Comments aren’t just welcome this time. They’re expected!

I love this site - BUT I would like the photos to be clickable so I can view them larger. Yep, it would take a bit more effort on your side - but being able to view these sights ‘closer up’ would be worth it I think.
Thanks for a wonderful site.

I must write to thank you for putting this site together. It is a great way to escape reality and to drift back to the wonderful island. I especially like the videos. They are very well done and they do wonders for my productivity. Please keep up the great work. Is there any way you could incorporate the STJ web cam into your site ?

I love the blog… it’s warm and cozy and fun. Very well done! Anyway that I can stay connected to that wonderful island I simply do not get enough time on is great.
I’ll be watching! : )

Absolutely love this website. The videos are wonderful and the content excellent. It’s great to know that each day there will be something new to read/watch. As well, I like that some items are “regulars” (Wednesday beach day).
Thank you for all of your hard work. You guys are great.

I like the site and it’s well done. More stuff? I would like to see an interview with Kenny - he’s always fun. How about happy hour at Woodys? Or Skinny Legs? The villa videos are fun and interesting, but would be better if you could talk with guests, or post something unexpected or adventurous about their stay. Maybe someone has a favorite villa for location, or price, or availability?
Keep up the excellent work!

I love the Beach Break videos!
.
I love this site!
I love you guys for spinning off the Bongo Bongo blog for those of us who can’t get enough STJ!
I don’t have any constructive criticism at this point…only ass kissing

I love this site. Love the villa tours, Charlie a/k/a Gilligan and the beach breaks.

Well guys considering your website is the very first site I check in the morning…no more checking stocks, reading depressing news or looking at the most viewed stories until I’ve looked to see whats new @ on-stjohn.com I’d say your first month has been a success! Keep up the good work, I’d imagine it could be hard to find content each and every day but so far you haven’t lost my attention!
Some Suggestions:
I think an informal forum would be fun here…I visit others but don’t interact much
Like Panky suggested, A bongo bongo webcam would be cool!
An on-stjohn calendar so we can post our upcoming trips and see who else will be on island at the time.
On of those star trek transporter thingies that will suck me through my computer screen and drop me on whatever beach is featured on this weeks beach break every day at lunch…
OK back to reality…thanks again for all your hard work!

I love the site and love knowing that there will be something new to read or look at every day. That’s the main thing that keeps me coming back.
Suggestions:
I love the villa listing and videos, but would appreciate it if they were organized or could be searched in some way. By location or number of bedrooms maybe?
I think that the dining reviews and interviews with local business people are really cool. Could we have a separate section that has links to local businesses (food, diving, shopping, national park) that have been featured in your “articles”? If I want a link to the Banana Deck, I don’t always want to scroll through all the dining reviews to find it.
Thanks a million you guys, just love the new site!! Keep up the great work.

You guys already know I’m addicted to this site. I’m thrilled you have the time and energy to keep it up. It’s a daily staple for me after I get the kids off to school.

More comments everyone! Good commenting makes a good blog better.
February 1st, 2007 11:41
You already know I adore this site. Keep doing what you’re doing. I like the blog format in regard to the commenting. The one thing that might be cool is a link to all the “Beach Break” videos for when I need a quick fix (unless it’s already here and I’m missing it?), but that request is just for selfish reasons.
Thanks!

I can’t say enough about this site. Like Rob said, it is the first link I check in the morning, to check out what you guys have posted for the day. Videos rock, especially for someone mentally trapped in STJ but physically trapped in Upstate NY. No suggestions beyone what everyone else cleverly pointed out about improving on an already amazing website.
WAIT - what about offering 50% Bongo Bongo discounts to your devoted blog followers? Huh? Huh?

great site and thanks for continuing…still miss the b2 blog though. after a fresh 10 inches of snow today, it’s nice to visit the beach.
thanks!

i love it. but i am partial. i am a bb addict, so whaddya expect? i really wish you would take that black tape off that guy’s eyes. i feel so bad for him; i almost get hit by a taxi everytime i am in st john and i don’t have ANY BLACK TAPE ON MY EYES! and the views he’s missing— shame on you. other than that very serious judgement error on your part, i have no complaints.

There are tourists and then there are travelers. Tourists have it easy, as there are an infinite number of ways that they can get the information that they desire.
That’s what makes this site special…it is a place where travelers, those who want to truly learn about the area, and plan on being frequent visitiors for a long time, can come to aquire useful knowledge and information. We want the bad, the good and especially the ugly.
Travelers love the quirks and the out of the way places…we want to “fit in” a little more, and not miss the truly unique experiences. Here in Destin, Florida we call it “local color”.
The videos are nice, but in my opinion, the local little tid-bits are just as important and appreciated.
Both of you are obviously way more knowledgeable than most about the isle and surrounding area, and I am willing to bet that you learn many, many new things every visit.
I would like to see a few more “human interest” stories…How did two twin brothers from Missouri wind up owning Woody’s for so many years?…How about an interview with a ferry worker so that we can understand their perspective and what we can do to make the process smoother…Interviews with other villa owners so we can learn their stories…short interview with a policeman on what most visitiors do correctly and what we need to work on…I would really like an interview with a villa management company on what to expect and what not to expect and most importantly WHY not to expect something…most guests are way friendler, happier and easier to deal with when they understand the “why”…
Anyways, keep up the good work, and do not, under any circumstances, take down the Bongo Bongo blog! People will learn from that blog for many generations to come. Not to mention that I still visit it over and over…
Cheers

Happy Birthday! Birthdays were always more fun when their were fewer candles. Good luck with the new site; it looks great! Thanks for the nod on the building blog sites. However, I still feel like that Redneck joke; you know the one on “what is the last thing a Redneck says before he dies?” “Hey ya’ll, watch this!” Keep up the “guess this beach” feature; I found it the most relaxing. Cheers!

Happy B-Day Guys!!
I love your new site. Like a lot of the other comments, this site is my daily escape back to St. John. Keep the beach breaks coming they are awesome!
February 1st, 2007 18:34
Just wondering…. with all those beach scene videos, how did you manage to not capture a single hot babe?? Future renditions should most definitely include some of the finer island treasures.
A concerned viewer.
P.S. Loved the villa blog.

On-StJohn is great, the daily post(s) are perfect - one of the few sites i actually go to daily! Please Please keep it up. Would be great to see an interview/article with some of the charter captains in the area and their craft. Charlie’s review library is a good idea, once it gets traction. The vids are great - as expected.

Jeff and Russ….appreciate your hard work.
I know it takes a lot of time and effort to make
this thing go…so thank you.
I do come by every morning to get my St John fix
and to see what fun stuff is going on.
February 1st, 2007 20:19
Hi Jeff & Russ … Congratulations on another one of your HIT St. John ventures! On-StJohn is fresh, clever & witty, and so right on. You sure know how to tell a good story and make people laugh at all the funk & charm St. John has to offer.

Like all who have posted above, I think this site is great. Thank you for taking the time to do it.
I agree with Jake K…I think the local stories are the best. For example, what about interviews with some of the people we all see year to year…Dave at the Stone Terrace, April (and Chris and Dave and Tom and Michelle) at the Beach Bar, Carpenter Cliff who actually built the Beach Bar’s bar…heck, what about Conrad and Gladys Sutton.
I like seeing the beaches…don’t get me wrong…but it’s the people who draw me back. I miss them when I am not there, so it would be great to get a fix through this site.

Really nice site guys! You need to come up to the house for another “champagne inspection”, you are long over due. PS… your bougs are looking beautiful.

It makes me not miss the building blog so much. Really this is terrific and the beach clips seem to arrive just on the day that I really really need one. Keep up the good work.
February 2nd, 2007 18:31
I agree with the traveler vs tourist comment. I observe this site to encourage myself to earn enough money to go back. It’s a great incentive plan. But also to understand the whole place better, and to experience it better.
Thx
Tom

Absolutely LOVE this site! Favorite thing is Beach Break, closely followed by the interviews.
Keep up the good work!
February 4th, 2007 08:52
Great job, guys! I come here to get my St. John fix every morning.
February 5th, 2007 10:35
Can you guys do a feature on the local music scene? We always like to know where to catch some tunes when we are on vacation. We did the Sunday Beach Bar and also saw Paradise People twice last year. Great times! Slimmin’ became our “all around the island man” - we ran in to him at Trunk while he was doing his day job for the Parks, we parked in his lot almost daily, and then he entertained us at night!
I see on Infusions web site they have another group playing there on Wed. nights. Would love to know more about it!
Thanks for my daily STJ fix!

Thank you for this site! I love, love, love it! It is in my favorites and I try to visit everyday to see what is new. Great job! Your work is very much appreciated! Your efforts don’t go unrecognized!
