Palm pilot

Spotted near Alfredo’s….a flatbed truck driver managed to maneuver these gigantic palm trees up the drive. Josephine Roller at Coral Bay Garden Center says palms like this can live in root ball form for quite awhile. These are rich people palms. This kind of instant gratification…20 or 30 foot palms…can cost anywhere from $6,000 to as much as $10,000 a piece or more, especially the king daddy Royal Palm. Next time you’re at Cinnamon Bay, look up at Ritchie Rich’s house (that’s what we call the monster house on the tip at Peter Bay.) At least 3 dozen gigantic, gigantic palms were recently planted up there, towering over the property. Sure, there’s probably some kind of bulk-palm-tree-discount, but still…do the math! That’s a lot of normal people paychecks blowing in the wind up there.

Dang…Do you think palms would survive in the freezing weather we are having in the mid-west? I might buy some. By the way, a few entries ago there was mention of super good deals on air fare…St. Louis to St. Thomas $297.00. Nothing like a last minute trip. Be there is a couple of weeks.

Don’t be expecting a palm tree to commemorate the one-year wonton ordeal! We’ll be there, but with empty arms! Well, they won’t be empty, we found yall a mango slicer by Oxo. Those utensils drawers were too empty. We gotta junk ‘em up for you!
    Thanks for the interesting article.

Too funny. Sure hope those trees are worth it.

Nice job on the Marty Beech piece, as well.

This reminds me of a story about full size palms being replaced at Caneel soon after a hurricane because the Rockefellers insured them with Lloyds of London.

I heard that “Richy Rich’s” house is actually owned by the guy who owns Monster.com. Any truth to that?
