Villa Vittles Debut!

In the first installment of what’s going to be a really fun feature, Villa Vittles tackles a very easy, very tasty, VERY hot shrimp dish. Rick G’s Jerome’s Shrimp. Just 3 ingredients (four if you count the oil, five if you count the water people started demanding shortly after chomping on a few) and easy, easy yummy shrimp. DO NOT do what Jeff did and toss the shrimp with the hot sauce in a bowl with your bare hands. Hot hands lasted for a couple of hours. Hot shrimp, and reviews here!

Well done guys. Saw a few familiar faces in the crowd. Can’t wait to try this recipe. I make BBQ shrimp( Mr B’s -New Orleans) and black pepper shrimp (Paula Deen). This is a new “Hot” twist that I can’t wait to check out. Looking forward to the next segment.

I just got to watch the video, very nicely done! Jeff’s reaction to the the shrimp and hot sauce hitting the pan were definately as expected. It was charming to see your reaction to the aromas coming of the saute pan!

It was fun to see familiar faces tasting the shrimp. The fellow who mentioned Paul Prudhommes cajun shrimp hit my original inspiriation for this dish. The reactions of the audience were as intended!

Seeing Jeff toss the shrimp with his hands made me cringed. I hoped you washed your hands well!

I’ll be on-stjohn come the end of April and will be stocking up on Jerome’s again!

    Cheers, RickG

Awesome video guys. It was a fun party. We enjoyed hanging out with you and making some new friends. Thanks for including us. And thanks for sparing me from inclusion in the video. I always think I look like a total dork whenever I see myself on film. I knew that my aversion to seafood would come in handy one of these days!

I also got scared when he used his hands. Ever cut a hot pepper and accidentally rug your eyes?

Hey…that villa has a nice kitchen and even has a telescope! It looks like a nice place. I wish there was a website where I could have read about it and what went into getting it built. That would have been fun.

RickG: What’s the base of the sauce? Is it scotch bonnets? I’ve never had it but am always up for a new sauce. I’ve seen it but never picked it up.

Looks like more than one beer would be needed to wash those suckers down! Good recipe though, I might just try it on our guests in June!

That shrimp WAS yummy! I have to say, however, that if the heat level scares you (that shrimp WAS hot!), they would still be delicious with just half a bottle of Jerome’s. Or even a quarter of a bottle.

Writing from the temperate zone. Do I have to come to the tropics to get Jerome’s sauce? I hope you says yes!

Rob, the hot sauce is one of the most flavorful that I’ve found in the region. It has scotch bonnets, habaneros or something similar along with onion, thyme, garlic, salt and vinegar. I made a version with a papaya base this summer and the thyme made a big difference.

    Cheers, Rick

The villa vittles tasting party was a BLAST, Jeff & Russ sure know how to throw great a party! When I arrived, Jeff was cook’in the shrimp and the fumes sure had us coughing and laughing, just like Rick G’ described! The shrimp were delicious, but I agree with Ruth, a half or quarter bottle of Jerome’s would have been better for my taste. My lips were on fire … and don’t rub you eyes like I did!

Good friends, when you burn their lips off and they’ll still leave nice comments. :) Looks great and good job with the video- looking forward to the next one!

The t-shirt arrived and it looks good. I’ll have to wear it somewhere scary and take a picture - Young Republicans convention?

    Thanks, RickG

    Hi Everyone,

I am one of Jerome’s God Daughters and i have to to tell you his Hott Sauce is amazing. Try mixing it with A1 sauce for some great flavor for your burger… Or ask him about his beef Jerkey… It is the best beef Jerkey in town..
