Getting a-roundabout

Seriously, we’ll believe this when we see it, but plans for a roundabout where the Texaco station is are still moving forward. Guess it’s a good idea, if you could, oh, say, SHUT DOWN THE ENTIRE CRUZ BAY SIDE OF THE ISLAND FOR A YEAR WHILE YOU BUILD IT. Here’s a question. In countries where you drive on the right and the driver sits left, like the U.S., traffic goes counterclockwise in a roundabout. In countries where you drive on the left and the driver sits right, like the U.K., traffic goes clockwise. So, on St. John, how would it work? Clockwise, right? I mean, correct? Traffic planners love roundabouts. Busy right now? Read all about them here.

I am with you; what is the point? I studdied the tradewinds diagram forever and concluded the traffic must go clockwise.
Of course it will be only one lane inspite of the plan because trucks will own the middle.
Why not just take out the Texeco Station and give the trucks more turning room.
Spend the money on education

MORE fun and games while driving on St John! I hail from the small but great state of NJ which USED to be full of traffic circles. One by one they are disappearing due to their inefficiency. Every circle I have ever seen has it’s own personality in that the locals manage them one way and the “visitors” negotiate them all together differently which often ends up in some sort of confrontation be it egos or car parts….whatever…all I can say is dining at Tage may bring a new form of entertainment!

The villa we’ve stayed at requires us to go through that intersection and it’s fun. The whole side of the road thing when making any turns is most certainly an adventure. If aliens could drop a completed circle on the spot, that would be good. If it were to take forever to build, please email me so I know not to visit that year.
As for direction, it would have to go clockwise. Otherwise, as you came up the hill (Dolphin Market on the left) you’d have to cross the road to go into the circle. You’d be making “X”‘s as you came in and out.
Of course, that might be more fun.

Well, that intersection is already a nightmare! Could it get any worse?
Has anyone seen the itty-bitty round-about on Virgin Gorda? It’s really cute.

Hmm…this may mean just one less painkiller at the beach bar before driving back to the villa….on 2nd thought I love a challenge
