Beach Break: Francis Bay
Today’s Beach Break is Francis Bay, the beach just passed Maho and reached by boat or by a bumpy, but not so horrible road. It’s fun to sit on this beach and look out at all the big sailboats and yachts…expensive boats love to hang out in this bay…and then to look up and down the beach and try to figure out which people are the rich people who belong to those boats. (Wait long enough, and their dinghys come to get them and you can see if you were right.) Notice how brown the hillsides are. It’s really dry right now. Go to Francis here!

Looks like St. John could use a little rain. The vegetation looks thirsty!

Yall are high-tec with the your boat-circling filming skills! That is my favorite beach. I love to watch the pelicans doing their dive bombs. One of my favorite videos yall have done was the pelicans and “your” sound effects from the blog. I can’t remember which beach you were on though.
Ugh! It is really brown- I’ve never seen it like that before.

My gosh, I can’t believe how brown it is. Still, it’s a beautiful beach to hang out on for a while. And nice 360 boat cam technique.

I love Francis Bay,you can see and hear the donkey and goat gangs on a good day.Once, while chillin on the beach,a donkey rumble broke out in the bushes behind my towel, very scary braying and posturing! The older locals also use the bay for lap swimming, sure beats the scene at your local Y.

Nicely done…once again! I sure hope St. John sees some rain soon! If not I’m sure I’ll bring a little Texas rain with us in 79 days!
I could hear an airplane flying over during one part of the video, is there a lot of small aircraft traffic over St. John, I honestly don’t remember seeing many planes and only one or two helicopters?
One of my ‘fantasy’ businesses for STJ would be to give aerial tours of the islands but I just can’t imagine that its not already been tried and proved unprofitable or just not popular enough to support since you would have to fly out of STT, unless I bought a flying boat…hmmm…time to get to work

That was nice; especially since I’m trapped in NJ this week. It’s 12 degrees and snowing.
Now that we have BOAT CAM! BOAT CAM! It’s party time It’s excellent BOAT CAM!, can we expect EXTREME CLOSEUP next?

When we were at Francis last week, a number of iguanas came down to the waters edge. We also saw mongoose.
The island was terribly dry. The shuttle driver at Caneel said this is the worst drought in many many years.

What a great beach. We spend hours floating around, only getting out to replenish beers. The boat cam was fun. It’s snowing in DC, I’m cold and the dog wants to go for a walk. I need a Francis Bay refill. Thanks for making my day.
Cheers, RickG

Wow! Love the beach break! We like Francis, not usually a lot of people. We always come in the summer months and have never seen it dry like that. Pray for rain at night!
