What next for old dock?
There is huge potential in what to do with the old barge dock at Cruz Bay Creek. Dockable access for big boats (this is the Spirit of Nantucket using the dock, which it does just about every week now), central Cruz Bay location, and a very big piece of real estate. How about we start by losing the chain link fence and use some of that concrete for parking? It is a parking lot after all. Parking lots are meant for parking. That part of paradise is already paved. A tiki bar, a band stand, a Ruby Tuesday’s? Just throwing a few ideas out. Hey, how about a huge condo project? Heck, developers could start on that without proper permits right now. If you’ve got suggestions, we’ll see they get to the VIPA. That of course is absolutely no guarantee anybody there will actually read your ideas, but hey…

Walmart. Target. Home Depot. Something like that would look good there.

Here in NJ, they would put a casino on a peice of property like that. How about Uncle Joe’s Casino and BBQ Palace. Screw the parking, Slimman would be bummed.

Hopefully something really fancy that we can point at and say “only the rich people can afford that, kids.” There isn’t enough of that when you really think about it.

how about a marina? a place where charter sailboats and such could dock for the night while on term charter and eat at restaurants, shop at a grocery stores, refuel, and spend $ at small shops on st. john.
making it available for cruise ship like boats (spirit of nantucket) is retarded at best - the last thing we need is to be more like st thomas where all the money stays with the cruise ships and taxi drivers.
this is a perfect spot to build dock space and create an attractive spot for boaters to visit st john, something we have none of right now.
