I actually like the mac n cheese. They don't have it all the time, though. Also, the johnny cake with cheese isn't bad. I'm not even bothering with healthy at this point, since I'm usually washing it down with a few cruzan and diets.

No liquids through security is a bummer. Even if you bring in food to eat, the only drinks available are at the cafeteria. They should sell bottled water, etc. at the gift shop like every other airport in the world. Not even a lowly drink machine is available. Where is the enterprise spirit?

Our strategy is to stop at Hercules Pate (next to Penn's), buy a sack full of pates and then enjoy on the ferry and at the airport. Mmmmmmmm.....

We stop at JJs then go to the ferry. I seem to recall someone on the VI On Line site saying that you could leave your bags with a taxi in CA and eat there. Anyone have any experience with that?

I have learned to go to the little stand in the corner of the parking lot out front of the airport. I think it's called Ashley's. You can get a chicken, beef, or shrimp roti and beer, or a mixed drink, and it's are all cheaper and better then anything inside! Plus, for the smokers, you can still light up there.

Our best bet has been - good breakfast. Then a stop at the Deli at Mongoose and pack a sandwich to go. Plus the bakery items are amazing - but wrap them well or you'll have a "butter" spot in your bag.

We found the answer to customs asking "do you have food?" that works well to be - "no just snacks."
Have a nice day...

Rats. Safari can’t open the page
“http://www.cyrilekingairportfoodsucks.com/” because it can’t find the server “www.cyrilekingairportfoodsucks.com”. O well.

Yes, that food does suck... unless you're also enjoying a last rum punch (or three) and clinging by your fingernails to your last few precious minutes in the Virgin Islands...

(mmmm... Virgin Islands...)

There is a little food place across the airport parking lot with outdoor tables. Has anyone eaten over there?

After years of traveling through this airport, I've finally come to actually look forward to my lunch there before our journey home. Chef's Salad with 2 packets of dressing and 1 last rum punch. Yes--I really do enjoy it! :-)

I agree, the food at the STT airport is particularly nasty. Our operating strategy is to eat breakfast before leaving St. John and then forgo food until we get home around midnight. It makes for a long and hungry day.

On our 2004 trip (the first to the airport) we suffered on line at the airport for 3 days all to get a dried up chicken leg and some rice. Lunchlady Doris didn't even want to serve me it; she thought I should have something fried.

Last summer, I made sure we stopped in CA on the way over from STJ to hit a nar for a few and some lunch. We had no lines to check in and, possibly more importantly, no line for "food".

And I thought the offerings in Newark were bad.
