Hey, we’ve all been there

Ahh, nothing like a little nap in the middle of the afternoon. Here’s Cruz Bay fixture Patrina catching a few winks, smack dab in the middle of the road. Spitting on people takes a lot out of you, after all. (She recovered just fine from her brief break). We think she’d be a fascinating interview. Not being sarcastic. Really, she must have a great story. We just don’t know if we could get the story out of her. We’ll have our people call her people.

It’s amazing how often her name appears in the police reports section of the paper. Al Capone would be proud.

That’s actually really sad…but that’s life too. Even tiny islands are not immune. We were on island a couple weeks ago and saw most of “our STJ bums” as we affectionatly call them.(I’m sure you know who they are.) Not much has changed there since last year. A couple even bummed a smoke from us. One morning there was one sleeping in the shrubs in the park-that was a new one on us. Some might say these folks may discourage tourists-that may be true. I say it adds to the islands character. God bless em’ all. The sad fact is some people are just beyond help, try as we may.

We first met Patrina over 10 years ago. At the time, she was selling hand made earrings. She’s so obviously a paranoid schizophrenic. I wish someone could help her.

Guys - I’ve so enjoyed this website - till now…In my opinion, the photo and story are in very poor taste, and offensive. This poor soul should not be provided for our “entertainment”. Enough said.

Thanks for the heads up about Miss Cruz Bay fixture Patrina, I have to deal with personalities like her at work. She wont deter or take away from my enjoyment of the Island, just nice to know what she is about and will avoid her. Sunflower, I didnt consider the story or the picture in poor taste, guess living here in the NYC NJ area gives me a different perspective towards things.

patrina is a very nasty person, by her spitting on people she is exposing them to her hepatitis, among other things. I have witnessed her on may occasions hit people who did not give her money or smokes. beware all…..

Mental illness is a fact of life for alot of people……It is sad since most can not afford meds. Yes, Patrina can be a bit scary, but I think Jeff and Russ do a good thing of making people aware of Patrina.
We have many ‘island charactors’ that roam the streets and just let people alone…….
It would be nice if mental illness was just understood a bit more and realize without some form of medication and treatment there is nothing that can be done……..oh how I wish we were like Canada with socialized medecine…….

I wish she would quit taking sips of my drink at Woody’s while I am not looking.
