Maho coming to Meada’s?

Meada’s Plaza, the retail space you walk through to get to Rhumblines is looking good. This is the building that burned in September, 2005 and its scorched façade remained an eyesore for much of 2006. Here’s what it looks like now, almost ready to re-open. Still some work to do, but it looks great! (Why can you get away with pink and peach on an island? Can you imagine getting this color past your homeowners association?) We hear Maho Bay and Concordia Campgrounds will open an outpost here with a store selling pottery, art glass and other things made at Maho’s arts and crafts center. There are a WHOLE BUNCH OF CLASSES you can take there, by the way.

What happened to the Love Shack? Last May I went there and it was very different. I don’t remember the new name, but it was not feeling right. The pathway was very dark and there were a few guys hanging out that almost made ya think twice about passing them. Between the burned down building and this new atmosphere it made that little strip a lot less appealing. Hope it has picked up since then. Still can’t wait to get there!

I really impressed with all of the info you are providing here. Are you sure you just go to STJ for a week or two several times a year? Do you ever rest? It looks to me like you have been very very busy cooking, having parties and interviewing every one under the sun! I was glad to get the Maho schedule. I’ve never checked that out. Keep up the good work!

Hell, you can get away with pink and peach in Pacoima and lots of places in East Los Angeles. It’s not only an island thing

Barb, Duffy’s is now Lizard’s Landing, and most people say that you should stay away unless you’re looking for trouble…

Thanks a lot! That was the feeling I had gotten. I will be sure to play somewhere else. Have a great day!

I can’t believe the looks of this area. When I saw it last October it was very boarded up and still gave the appearane of having been a fire. Looking forward to checking out Rhumblines. It was closed when we were there.
