The official caterer of Villa Vittles

This is Susie Christy, of Christy’s of St. John. She is quite a character, and she is the official sponsor of On-StJohn’s Villa Vittles feature. Here’s what happened in round one. Jeff: I need gobs of stuff and we’ll be in the house tomorrow. Susie: Can you email me a list? Jeff: Done. Susie (by e-mail reply): Not a problem. There was stuff on that list that we would’ve had trouble finding at Whole Foods, let alone on St. John. All of it, every single thing (with the exception of Pink Lemonade), was not only at the house less than 24 hours later, but put away in cupboards, freezers and refrigerators. And bonus: She also delivered huge plates of her prepared food for us to sample. London Broil. Homemade salsa. Stuffed mushrooms. Rum cake. Shrimps, fruit, bread, even flowers. All of it excellent. (The flowers were pretty, but we didn’t eat them.) Susie was born in Roswell, New Mexico and we’re not sure if she was really BORN there or just dropped off there, but that is totally part of her charm. She’s crazy fun and if you’re looking for full-service, what-do-you-need, kind of provisioning, do business here. Christy’s of St. John gets the On-StJohn seal of approval.

Well said. We have an order placed with her for some of the same items for our May trip at Espirit. She was very easy to work with and we can’t wait to try her vittles. If all goes well, this will be the caterer we have at your house in November!!!

we had Susie bring some stuff to us at Bongo last October. She was a trip to talk to and brought us all we asked for and flowers as well. all in all I’m not sure “provisions” are necessary but heck it was our honeymoon and it was one less thing we had to think about. we got the london broil and mushroom platter as well and it was delish. plenty for 2 to enjoy more than once. even had some left over for our sunday brunch. we would use her again for sure. if you ever get the provisions ask her to bring you the 12 grain bread. wish I knew where she got that from! it is PERFECT with mango jam in the morning (STJ Spice) and then off to the beach we go!

Funny little thing just happened here. I started looking at her website (because of this thread) just a moment ago and everything looks so good. So, I say to myself: “Self, let’s surprise Pete and order some of these wonderful things to have in the villa when we arrive.” Well, Pete looked over at my computer and saw what I was looking at. He then informed me that he was going to do the same thing by surprising me on arrival with tasty vittles.

So, Christy, if you are reading this, be looking for an order from us. (Pete and Marcia). We’ve decided to decide on our selections together. It would have been kind of dicey if you had received two orders from us…which one of us would you have told that there was already a “surprise” order made??? :)

BTW, I always end up with a migrane headache after traveling for 18 hours to get to STJ and even stopping at Starfish market on the way to the villa is a major pain in the @#$$ because one of us has to go in and do the shopping while the other one sits in the Jeep with all of luggage. Then, we have to cook.

NOT THIS YEAR!!! Thank you, in advance, Christy. And, thank you, once again, Bongo guys, for enlightening us to something so perfect.

We used Christy’s last year. Susie was wonderful! Very easy to work with and just a very cool lady. Everything I asked for was done. She even went above and beyond locating and delivering a box I had sent to the island. She left beuatiful flowers and even a gift for my graduate (her own little touch). Susie, if your reading, she loved the hand painted turtle ornament. I highly recommend Susie and will be utilizing her services again in future trips!
