Villa Vittles: chocolate coffee steak

What do coffee, chocolate and steak have in common? This great recipe. A spice rub that On-StJohn reader Alana Doran submitted. Alana says it works great on burgers or anything else on the grill too. And you know what? This was really good! Caffeine with your protein. Check it out below.

    OK, I’m confused.

The video says 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder, but the recipe at the end said 1 teaspoon. This looks like a GREAT recipe, but I want to make sure I don’t blow it for my guests (many who already think I’m a horrible cook and I’m hell-bent on proving them wrong for once!)

ALSO: 1.4 million dollars for a villa and you guys couldn’t find a spatula to push the ingredients into the bowl, settling instead for a finger? I don’t know, guys……

This looks awesome. I’m trying it on the grill this weekend — if it doesn’t rain like crazy
    :(

It’s one teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder :-)

Not sure if I’d do that to a nice sirloin. On a nice steak, I’m more of an olive oil, garlic, basil, juice of lemon guy. After the steak is cooked and cut up.

This might be more suitable for some ribs or a pork butt.

We put it on filet mignon. Gasp, I know, but we LOVE it!

Villa Vittles would be a HUGH hit on the Food Network channel! Live from St. John … Chef Jeff has all the right moves and presentation style to be a famous TV star!

Looks good.but i’m wondering how many beers Jeff had before cooking that. looks like he had trouble getting one of the ingredients into the bowl.
