Not that we’re ever that anxious to leave…
But US Airways has developed some serious problems with its St. Thomas flights. We just bought tickets for next weekend. Great fare. $336 from DC through Charlotte. But those on-time performance numbers, which I rarely even notice, just jumped off the screen this time. STT to Charlotte flight on time 30 to 40 percent of the time? US Airways had the distinction of being the worst major carrier for on-time performance last month. LATE 45 percent of the time. Man, that’s horrible! And, according to Bureau of Transportation stats, by far most of those delays were the airline’s own fault (carrier delay, late arrival, canceled flight.) I can attest to the delays in Charlotte with US Airways!! Back in December we waited approximately 3 hours only to have our flight postponed AGAIN ! Then when we did finally board, we found out our luggage was not transferred and it had to be delivered to us at home (the next day)!! Then the courier brought the wrong bags, but thankfully they were only switched with my brother and sister-in-law’s bags who were with us!! We had always flown Delta before. Cheaper flight, but cheaper service!! Not worth it!

I know that ATL can be a pain….but think if I was going from DCA to STT, I would take Delta.
Of course on weekends and during the winter season, there is that great UA direct flight to STT from IAD .

In fact, this email comes to you from Charlotte airport due to USAir’s inability to get people where they are supposed to be, when they are supposed to be there. We left our villa 14 hours ago, did the walk of woe, endured the STT airport…what a freakin’ joke that place is…only to have USAir deliver us over an hour late for our connecting flight. On the plus side, the Charlotte airport is pretty deluxe compared to STT.
So, here we sit. They have rocking chairs here…almost dropped my laptop twice.

Waaah!!! We are on that flight coming home from STJ. It’s already scheduled to land in Boston at midnight, who knows when we’ll actually get back! Good thing I took the next day off from work…
