Bulletin: Chesney sweeps next four decades

In a decision that will put an end to what has become a needless annual awards show, the country music industry has decided to declare Kenny Chesney Entertainer of the Year for the next 46 years.

Using actuarial tables to determine Chesney’s remaining life span, the Academy of Country Music has gone ahead and given him the award for the years 2008 through 2053.

Can someone tell me why I think it may be a good idea to go see him in Raleigh this summer?

    Oh yea…I remember…so I can hit him with a battery-filled tube sock

Wow, that’s a totally unnecessary comment.

Kenny is truly an amazing entertainer. I have seen him in concert and he always puts on a great show. Besides he can’t be a bad guys if he “gets” the whole St John thing.

Sounds like a little envy on the males comments. Kenny does put on a great show. Really, what singer/performer puts on a show for 2+ hours anymore??? He seems to always go out and give it more than 100%. And really how can he be all bad if he calls St. John his home?

he actually does not put on 2 hrs…….more like 80 minutes……
he does put on a long set when he does his keg shows……
i doubt jeff or russ is jealous of kenny…..
i will give jeff and russ this………you had kenny living til he is almost 86 years old……he would be happy with that………lol

    Laura,

Some of us just don’t care for country music. It has nothing to do with being male. And, some of us do get sick of hearing about over-exposed celebrities…again, nothing to do with being male. Personally, even though I am a guy, I wish Paris Hilton would just go away. It’s not a gender thing for me. Sorry.

I’ve got to say this…I don’t get to STJ nearly as much as I’d like. In between times “Be As You Are” helps get me by and is the ultimate day dream album. Not because it’s Kenny, but because it’s STJ. Anyone Agree?

Tim- You are so right. That CD for me has a very calming effect. I feel like it takes me to St John in my mind and makes all other things bearable. I do love Kenny but it is the St John connection that does it for me. Before I knew of this site and the forum, that CD made me think “wow there is someone else out there that knows what I am feeling.” Now that I have found these sights I realize that there are many of us. That makes me so happy because my friends that haven’t experienced St John think I am a bit obsessed. Oh well!

Come on! (Using voice from GoB from Arrested Development)

I’m a Buffett fan who just has several issues with a lot of stuff, Chesney included. I have a few of his songs on my mp3 player, so that must give me some leniency.

I’m just not much of a fan, and am a little cheesed off by his seemingly blatant attempt to woo us parrotheads.

Can I throw rotten fruit instead? I need to do something other than just sit in the sun all afternoon tailgating and drinking rum.

    Well, it takes all kinds.

I would rather listen to Roseanne Barr sing the National anthem than listen to a Buffett song.

It is good that everyone has different musical tastes, we just need to remember that no is better for theirs, just different.

    I’m in.
I was taught to believe that diversity and differences in tastes and opinions are what make life interesting and expose us to new things.
Rob – if you have Kenny tickets and decide you don’t want them, let me know.
Pete – You are a Very Bad Boy to compare Kenny to Paris Hilton. What awards did she win based on talent? (This does NOT include the “Worst-Dressed” Awards. We are talking about talent-based awards here, not the “Lack of Talent” category.)
    Betsy – email me.
Russ – You didn’t happen to high-tech-record this award show, did you?
Everyone – Winning this award for ONE year is a huge honor, never mind 46 years. Imagine a comparable award in your field of endeavors, be gracious and give the man some credit, please.
I get bored with Jimmy Buffet after three songs, but I respect the guy. I’d go see him if he played in my town, but they’re always private shows at The Westin and I can’t get in unless I get a job with Phillip Morris.

Not a fan of Kenny but I like Buffet. I’d just like to point out that Bruce’s shows are always well in excess of two hours and are always great. Yes, I’m that old.

    Ruth, with all due respect
The entertainer of the year award is really more about concert ticket sales then it is about talent. I’m not saying he doesn’t have any, he’s just not my cup of tea, errr i mean rum.

Actually, Kirk the EOTY is based on many more things then just ticket sales…..it is talent and the way the artist connects with the fans and what they bring to country music.
Saying that Kenny really has worked hard to give his all to the fans and he has brought alot to the table.
If you are a oountry fan so has Tim Mcgraw and George Strait…….But Kenny has been consistent every tour. He also has one of the strongest labels in Nashville. Joe Gallante and his team are a powerhouse….

I agree with Tim. I have 2 copies of “Be As You Are”- one for the house and one for the car! Something soothing about the lyrics and since I can only get to STJ once a year, it takes me back! (to quote another Kenny song!) You folks who don’t like Kenny should pay attention to his songwriting talents. His words make you “feel” and think! (and he’s not too bad to look at either!!)

I just stumbled across this as I’ve been on vacation, but I needed to put in my two cents. I love Kenny Chesney and I think that making him Entertainer of the Year for the next 40something years is an excellent idea! We are making our first trip to STJ next April and can’t wait to see what he sings about. Sorry to all of you who don’t agree with me :(

Ok, saw KC in concert Thursday night in Columbus, Ohio. Yes, he deserves to be Entertainer of the Year for the next 40 years!! What a show, what an entertainer, so personal and so in tune with his fans. You just have to experience it to get it!!
