Red means stop, green means go

And you thought St. John didn’t have any stoplights. Well there is one. First one to correctly guess where this is gets an On-StJohn T-shirt. And the title “Nerdiest St. John Tourist Ever” because if you know where this is, you’re a nerd. (Locals disqualified.)

I don’t suppose, “Next to the air circulation vent, on the green wall, just below the metal siding, behind the chain link fence” qualifies as the answer you’re looking for…

I have no clue but I’m going to guess it has something to do with getting on and off the car barge. Just a guess!

I would guess it is for loading on ferry dock? Again, just a guess.

That must be on the side of the school that’s in town. I can’t recall the name of the school, but that’s my guess.

Although I like the first answer given, I am going to guess that it is in a schoolyard?

    WINNER:

A few correct answers actually, but judging by time stamp, the first correct answer is from:

    Karen Musgrove

The stop light is on the Public Works building, behind a chain link fence on the left hand side of Gift Hill Road at the intersection of Centerline Road. Not something you’d notice on a casual drive by.

If it’s got a purpose, we’d love to know.

Yippee. I am happy to be a St. John nerd. The purpose (according to Feet, Fins etc.) was that the Government thought St. John needed traffic lights. It didn’t so Ira Wade put one on the building. I read the jeep tour info to my husband as he drove when we were there in May.

That’s either the light that they hung at the intersection by connections & first bank that lasted 2-3 days or the one they tried to put one by W&W, Natures and cool breeze. I think the first one was before ira’s time so its probably the 2nd. I don’t think that one made it 24 hours even.

Both were completely disregarded — which only makes sense on an island where half the people don’t use their turn signals.

Its purpose would be to show that on st john things are done a little different and st thomas govt officials who don’t come over here don’t get to decide everything……..$irenu$a not withstanding…..

Out of town, towards your house on the right past the old Texaco. What? Isn’t that enough direction/ Come On! Do you want mapquest or what?

It’s at SJI (St. John International airport) next to gate D36 - kinda hidden behind the new jetway. It’s hard to get that straight-on angle unless the jetway is fully extended while boarding the Virgin Air 747’s

Carolyn was right. We’re building on STJ and we pass it at least 6 times per day on our way home.
