Sharks!

Joe heroically saves Wade from a gruesome mid-day shark attack in the busy waters of Cruz Bay!

There’s a little more entertainment in front of the Beach Bar than usual these days. Three baby black tip sharks have been swimming around and feeding in the waters by Noah’s Little Arks. In ankle-deep water. The biggest one is about two feet long, and according to Wade at Noah’s, it has grown quite quickly. Wade is crazy. He says he’s been feeding them raw shrimp. Brave, for a man who spends most of his day standing in that ankle-deep water. Dude, that’s cute when they’re two feet long. But when they grow up, they’re gonna remember you and those ankles will look like big, tanned, hairy shrimp!

Funny these sharks would show up at the same time DPNR is in the process of installing swim buoys and turning Cruz Bay into a swimming beach. What? We didn’t tell you about that? Details tomorrow. (Oh…and don’t miss today’s Beach Break below.)

Looks like the shark my wife and I played with in front of the beach bar last week. I thought it was a nurse though…That shark was pretty tamed, it actually let me reach down and touch it a couple of times. Very cool, but I am glad it was tiny and that it’s mama didn’t come up from the deep for a bigger snack!

A few of the shark pics from our last trip are here: http://virgin-islands-on-line.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2965

When those sharks are a little older and come back to snack on Wade’s ankles, he’s going to have to change his name from “Wade” to “Float”. (Sorry someone had to say it… Maybe some of you have other new names he might use…)

The first four “Jaws” movies were filmed on the island of Martha’s Vineyard…..Maybe there is a fifth sequel and it will be filmed on the island of St John (need a new tropical locale)
    O.K. Here is the scenerio:
Think about it…Feeding baby sharks raw shrimp….D.P.N.R. turning Cruz Bay into a swimmimg beach…4th of July right around the corner…..be VERY suspicious if you see Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider, or Robert Shaw hanging around town….or a NEW character name Captain Quint hanging at the Beach Bar and his boat “Orca” bobbing over by the dock….Be even more suspicious if you see Steven Spielberg…I digress…oh… no I don’t…F.Y.I.
John Travolta’s catamaran “Double Feature” was over at Caneel Bay last week….

So great to see our favorite St. Johnian (did I spell that right?) friend. We miss you Wade. Better tell those sharks to leave you in one piece or else your pals from NJ will have to come down there and take care of business.(ha,ha)See you in October Wade.

Another after-sharkbite name - Neil. Or if Wade were a female & the shark got just one leg - Eileen.

If you see Robert Shaw, there might be other things going on and a shark won’t be the biggest problem.

Maybe the sharks will migrate to Solomon…there are a lot of shrimpy looking things in the water over there.
