Beach Break: Immigration Beach
Okay, that’s not the name of this beach, but that’s about the best we could get out of anybody on the East End, who do call it Immigration Beach (and you can guess why they call it that.) We couldn’t find a name on a map, so if you know it, tell us. This is the beach on the SOUTH side of the road where Haulover Bay is to the NORTH. It’s between Lime Tree Cove and Hansen Bay. Consult your guide books and tell us what it’s called! This much is for sure: Nowhere on the island can you go from the Atlantic to the Caribbean Sea faster than this spot of road.

I always thought they were referred to as Haulover North and Haulover South…

I always thought that Haulover was on the South and that the “immigrants” were let off on the Sir Francis Drake Channel side.

That’s right. The beach that is right off the road shown in the beginning of the video is Haulover South. The main beach in the video is Haulover North–you walk through the woods for about 5 minutes on a flat path to get there. There is very good snorkeling on the left side as you are looking at the water.

Haulover Bay is definitely the one on the North side of the road. (Beach Break June 6: http://www.on-stjohn.com/2007/06/06/beach-break-haulover-bay/ )
This video’s all of the beach on the South. Guess we can live with “Haulover South”, tho that seems kind of boring.
Maybe Kevin and Cheech will consider a corporate naming rights deal. “Tap Room Bay.” We’ll see what we can do.

Sorry Jeff, you are right. I was mixed up by the path into the beach shot at the beginning–I thought you walked through the woods over to Haulover North. Anyway, they are both nice beaches!

We’ve always referred to the south side as Round Bay Beach…
