A basket case

We’ll find news where it really matters. For example, Starfish Market. The store has new, Bauhaus-like streamlined, modern-looking baskets and the reason we deem this news is because they really suck. They are more narrow than your regular grocery store basket and the reason that’s a problem is because you can’t fit a six pack in these baskets any other way but the long way thus limiting you to one unless you did what I did which was stack two on top of each other. And you know what happened? The little froo-froo Design Within Reach plastic handle BROKE. Yes. Right there in the aisle with frozen French fries and trash bags. Run in, run out capacity has been seriously compromised and we are dangerously close to having to become cart people and we ARE NOT cart people. A good Starfish story tomorrow.

Ok, now, did the handle pop out of the socket on the basket or did it actually break? I haven’t used a basket a day yet that the handle didn’t come popping out, making it tip forward and spill. But technically, that’s not breaking since you can pop the handle back in and it works again (for a brief moment before doing it again). Just be glad you didn’t have to wait in line for an obscene amount of time, cradling the basket with your arms wrapped around it like a baby. Oh, and one other thing: they don’t stack as easily as the old ones, so usually at the end of the aisle the pile of baskets is every which way…making the line area more congested than usual.
Oh, but we live in Paradise, so what’s a little basket frustration, right?

You big dorks. You deserve this for even attempting to buy beer at Starfish. Save your money and buy the beer at Pine Peace market. They will get the dolly and bring it to your car for St Thomas prices(almost). I bet Wade the shark would know this.

If brought all of your food and beverages here with you on the airplane, packed in coolers (like God intended), you wouldn’t have these problems.

I definately second Pine Peace market..we’d hit it on our way to the beach every morning to fill up our coolers. Cheapest prices on the island.
