Welcome our newest advertiser: Caneel Trailside Cottage

We missed a chance to sneak into this place between guests this week. We’ll get in soon and report back, but the place looks and sounds pretty terrific. Two bedrooms, air conditioning, great looking kitchen, a totally private pool and a killer location. The owners recently took over full management of the house, and say they guarantee that they are running the place as environmentally-friendly as possible. And, as owner-managers, they sound intent on making sure anybody who stays there is completely satisfied with the experience.

This house sits pretty close to one of the nicest hiking trials on the island and is within walking distance of the Caneel Hill Observation Platform…a pretty spectacular spot. Read more about Caneel Trailside Cottage, here!

I saw this place recently and it’s on my radar for next summer. the location intrigues me a lot. Plus, it looks very nice.

Do we get a LOUD VOICE review of it?

I am also v. interested in it. We nearly rented in Feb 2007 but the agent (who had it in the rental pool in Fall 2006) couldn’t provide me with enough information to make me comfortable with the choice. Looking forward to your report.

My wife, daughter, a friend of hers and I used CTC 7/21-7/28 and absolutely loved it. First, the owner is great to work with. Next, his on-island agent was very hospitable and willing to help us at every turn. Finally, the Cottage is a really nice house, in a very good location, very close to Cruz Bay, just off Centerline Road, just above Pastory.

We would not hesitate to recommend CTC to anyone. As noted, the 2 BRs are air conditioned (which was necessary in late July). The kitchen had everything one could want. There is a lovely porch which looks out to the South and on clear days you should be able to see St. Croix. The week we were there it was hazy due to sand storms in the Sahara being carried over on tropical waves. There are a washer and dryer which came in handy since we took the advice of others and packed very light.

Lastly, directly behind the house is part of the Caneel Hill-Margaret Hill Trail. You can walk up to the overlook and see an amazing view. The hike is a little strenuous, but well worth it. Be sure to bring tennis shoes or hiking boots for the trail. Flip-flops won’t cut it on the trail

This was our first trip to STJ (other than a one day stop from a cruise) and staying at CTC made our stay the most memorable vacation we have ever taken.
