Help write Kenny’s next hit

This old tub just isn’t going anywhere. Despite DPNR’s best efforts, this heavy old boat still stakes its claim in Cruz Bay, most recently, askew on the beach near the Beach Bar. It doesn’t want to leave, and we’re not sure we want it to either, but it’s only a matter of time.

Free On-StJohn T-Shirt to the best lyrics about this boat. We’ll get you started. (To the tune of Old Blue Chair of course.)

-There’s an old metal boat

-Sittin’ in Cruz Bay…..(Your turn….)

    I propose a different song:

Set to “She Thinks my Tractor’s Sexy”

Sittin’ in the sand in the hot summer sun
From over at The Beach Bar, lordy here she comes
With some ‘cue from Uncle Joes and a big Painkiller
I make some room in the sand and she sits down
We sit back in the sand and look for Wayne the shark
Just look at her face, she ain’t a foolin’ me

She thinks my old boat’s sexy
    It really turns her on
    DPNR really hates it
    While I’m not chuggin’ along
She likes the way it’s rustin’ while we’re sittin’ in the bay
She’s even kind of crazy ‘bout my snorkel and mask
She’s the only one who really understands what gets me
She thinks my old boat’s sexy

**I want hazard pay for this one. I had to listen to this insipid song to get the certain Je ne sais quoi that is this most melodic of power ballads by the Wonderful Mr Chesny.

I can provide my address at any time.

    There’s an old metal boat
    Sitting in Cruz Bay
Don’t know if it will float
It just sits and rusts away

All the folks down at the bar
While they sit and kill their pain
Imagine just how long and far
It sailed before it met it’s bane

I like to listen to them muse
And tell tales that never were
    Of every kind of cruise
    The old junk did endure

From sunny days of running rum
    Or smuggling contraband
To catching tuna when they run
    Or something just as grand

But truth be told this old tub
    Did nothing of the like
It just hauled people, booze, and grub
To Tortola and Jost Van Dyke

Now it’s in it’s final days
    Can only sit and wait
    Till someone from DPNR
    Declares it junkyard bait.

Need Kenny’s help for a melody but here are a few lyrics to get started:

    There’s an old iron boat
    Sittin’ in the sand
At the edge of Cruz Bay harbor

    D-P-N-R tried in van
    But the tub does remain
At the edge of Cruz Bay harbor

The crowds at the Beach Bar howl
    “One more for the scow”
At the edge of Cruz Bay harbor

Flocks of gulls come and go as
    The tale starts to grow
At the edge of Cruz Bay harbor

    Online news is abound for
    The boat is aground
At the edge of Cruz Bay harbor

    There’s an old metal boat
    Sittin’ in Cruz Bay
Rusted by the waves and the salt
    from the cays,
Gets rocked to and fro by the air
    and the breeze,
Been floatin there for years, just
    anchored in the seas

    We’ve sat on that beach,
    With spirits in hand
    Pondered our paths,
    While sippin from the sands
I’ve searched for the answers, as I’ve strolled ‘long the shore,
    I know I found peace,
Yes, I know I’ve found peace,
    And that battered ol’ tub’s
just a part of the lore

    Towards that boat we’ve seen
    the ferries from the docks
    Droppin off guests
for a visit to the “rock”
I know some that have stayed and will
    never re-pack
Others just dreamin of that day they’ll come back

    We’ve sat on that beach,
    With spirits in hand
    Pondered our paths,
    While sippin from the sands
I’ve searched for the answers, as I’ve strolled ‘long the shore,
    I know I found peace,
Yes, I know I’ve found peace,
    And that battered ol’ tub’s
Just a part of the lore

That ol’ boat was a hero
    or so I am told
    A rescue was made,
    somewhere near Chocolate Hole
    So I’ll say it again
    as I’ve said it before
    that ol’ tub’s gotta stay
cause it’s a part of the lore

    There’s an old metal boat
    Sittin’ in Cruz Bay
Rusted by the waves and the salt
    from the cays

    here she goes:

    theres an old metal boat
    sittin in cruz bay

    jealous of white fiberglas
    & beaten by the waves

    stories within it’s hold
    waiting for adventurous fuel

too many carribean miles to recall
showing the wear of being a salt water mule

I’ve driven many vessels, both power and sail
weathered a storm or two and holed up for
    days

i’ve seen the world from solid ground and from the air

but nothing compares to feeling i get, to the feeling i get, to the feeling i get sittin in cruz bay in an old metal boat…

    fair winds,

    dale

You guys are killing me with the lyrics.

The other day I was driving home on the Cruz Bay beach road and a bunch of young boys had climbed up on that boat. They were yelling and waving their arms and climbing up and down with a great sense of urgency.
It was obvious that they were having the time of their lives and a Great Adventure that they’ll probably remember forever.
Sorry, no song lyrics here, just a story.

I must say it looks better now than it did two years ago full of water further out in the bay. I too agree my vote goes to Ali.
