To flush, or not to flush

This is the one part of island life that we just haven’t been able to fully embrace. It’s like making a rule about when brushing your teeth is acceptable, or just frivolous. And besides, if everybody stuck to this rule, some toilets might go days without flushing. There is a need for flushers, and I am one of them. You follow the rules. I’ll keep heads from getting too disgusting.

(Can you identify the location of this “No #1” reminder?)

If it’s brown, flush it down!

what’s wrong with water conservation? when resources can be limited, part of the responsibility of living on an island is to conserve; you’re in paradise–you’re roughing it!

On our first trip to STJ we went to Miss lucy’s for brunch. I didn’t know about the flushing thing. Walked in and I think it must have been the morning after a full moon party and nobody must of had to poo because there was enough pee that I had to flush to be able to go and then ended up throwing up because of it. Yuck! I have not been back in that bathroom since.
I have been in much worse on STJ but have found my secret one at Wharfside now! The worst was the public ones after you get off your charter at the National Park dock and leave customs.

It’s only pee for goodness sake….I’m with stj1…think about it…if everyone flushed every time then you might not have water at your gorgeous villa in paradise!

although I guess most villas have cisterns, but still there’s a need to conserve! Think green(or yellow in this case!)

Why stop at number one–hey, its only number two for goodness sake. Why ever flush at all for that matter, until the toilet is full?!
    I am a flusher.

Nothing is worse than going into a public bathroom, locking the door only to find a big load in the toliet, and it won’t flush down. And the guy waiting in line thinks you did it.

We’re only talking about #1. If I’m asked to conserve at a place I am visiting, then I will obey their wishes.

We do conserve at the villas we stay in, but the public bathrooms I flush. It’s a habit that’s hard to break and besides, not flushing goes against everything I believe in! :) ;) When it’s public it’s just GROSS!

I can’t forget the first time seeing the sign in a bathroom on Jost that said “In this land of sand and sun, we never flush for #1″
