The last time I saw this bay calm enough to snorkel was 1997. It's a great spot with some big deep channels in the coral that have overhangs and sandy floors. Because of the difficult entry, I'd call this one an advanced snorkel. Maybe we'll have a calm day for Hart Bay over Halloween!? That's if Jorge lets me spend a day off the dive boat. Here is mine. We stayed on Hart Bay for our first trip to St. John. The sound of the waves was so soothing, but it was never calm enough for us to snorkel. We tried one day, but got out about chest high and decided we were making a very bad mistake. I was told that if you are going to snorkel, the best place to try and enter is by the big rock you showed sticking out of the water on the right side of the beach as you are facing the water.
