French Caribbean replacing Panini Beach
A new restaurant called St. John Waterfront Bistro will move into the old Panini Beach space at Wharfside Village. Chef/owner Tim Cliff, who is also co-owner at Mojo Café just around the corner, tells us it will be a French restaurant with Caribbean ingredients incorporated. Tim, who came to St. John 3 years ago to work in the kitchens at Caneel Bay, says he will be in the bistro kitchen every day, but he also has a Chef de Cuisine who will be in charge of things. Tim will also stay involved at Mojo. The space is getting a top to bottom renovation, and, if all goes well, the new restaurant should be open in time for high season. “We hope that every guest leaves our establishment fulfilled,“ says Tim. “The ambiance, the food, the wine, the staff, the open kitchen and obviously the water view.”
Waterfront Bistro will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week, and there’s also a bar and lounge in the plans.

This is a great location for seaside dining, but the name of their new restaurant is not very memorable … what’s it called again?

That’s good news…. it is such a great spot… sounds like they are keeping in line with the atmosphere at panini beach.

Love to try something new. You can’t beat the location. It will be fun to check it out this winter.

Awesome, I think Mojo’s is my favorite place to eat affordably, and always liked Tim, always says hello even when busy. I hope the new place does as well. All though it will be hard to beat the Turkey Club at MoJo’s. I will be there on opening day for sure. Thanks for the good news, glad Tim and Flannigin (our little nick name for her, feel free to use it) are taking the spot over instead of some rich guy from Ohio.

If they combinewell French-Mediterranean and French-Martinique cooking (touches of curry and products from the tropics) styles, they will have a winner. Planning to go upon return to STJ.
