Waterfront Bistro taking shape

Work is underway in earnest at what will soon be Cruz Bay’s newest restaurant. Mojo Café owner Tim Cliff and crew are busy ripping out the old to make way for the new at the former Panini Beach location. As reported earlier, St. John Waterfront Bistro, Tim’s newest restaurant, will serve lunch and dinner 7 days a week, and if all goes well, be open in time for high season. That old wooden deck is being replaced by a brand new, stained-concrete deck. Should last a few seasons!

Looks like they’ve done more work on this than has been ever attempted on the traffic circle.

Great, yet another expansion of Wharfside Village over the 50-foot setback required at waterfront properties (though I guess it’s in line with the rest of that development, with both High Tide and Joe’s way beyond the legal boundaries)

I think the footprint of the deck will remain the same.

Jeff, the new deck is shaped like a foot? Cool. I guess it will increase the foot traffic. Or maybe have a better toe hold on the waterfront. It will probably have more sole than the old deck, too…….just some random thoughts….

We are looking forward to the menu… the “farewell dinner’ we had at Panini (tuna with an elegant carmelized sauce) sets a precedent or benchmark to be surpassed in our taste buds. Planning to give it a try, and hope it lives up to our expectations. If, so we’ll surely become “habitues”.

    Bert,

I’ll try not to put my foot in my mouth here but it does seem like they could use some arch support now that they have taken out the plexiglass.

When we go this winter, we’ll certainly give it a try. Hope they will “do” lunch. It’s a favorite meal for us “aging gourmets”.

Another great business gone – I feel sad for the Panini guys. This guy Ed must be a real JOY to deal with…

I did the original build-out for the space back when Paul Sabers still owned Wharfside. Hate to see my work disappear like that. Especially the bar. Good luck to the new owners!
