Jeep Cam: Jacob’s Ladder

The sun is starting to set and it’s time to get home. Today’s Jeep Cam starts near the E&C gas station and heads up Jacob’s ladder. We’ll end the trip at Bongo Bongo and point out lots of stuff along the way. Jeep Cam does Jacob’s ladder, below!

For those of you who are old enough to understand… Walt Disney would be proud. This was definitely an E-ticket ride…

The only problem with jeep-cam is that everytime you start out I think you’re driving on the wrong side of the road. Gotta get used to it.

Jeepcam is by far my favorite feature…thanks.

I agree about the speed bump past the Westin being stupid. And, like you, I always veer the left side tires around it.

Excellent job! I was thinking that the speed bump just past the Westin was stupid too and then, BAM, you said the same thing. What a great way to start the day! You brought back memories of staying at your place this past Jan/Feb - it was awesome! I also recalled the dreaded driveway. We walked in your ‘hood for exercise and that was the worst part.
    Thank you!

LOVED the jeep cam!! God I miss St John!! Thanks SO much for shooting that. This is one of my fav features!

So that’s Jacob’s Ladder? I always thought it was somewhere else. We’ve never had a problem driving it wet or dry and have always stayed nearby. I guess it’s our superior driving skills. ;-) LOL!

I used to think that Jacob’s ladder was that nasty switch-back, on the way to Fish Bay, right before you reach the intersection with 104. Don’t you think that part of the road deserves its own name?

I liked seeing some of the houses we’re considering renting along the way. That was nice.

I have to say though…Jacob’s Ladder wasn’t as steep as I had expected it to be when I first drove it. Sure, it’s steep, but the street our house was on was steeper and unpaved.

Whet was dicey was making the turns off of the little road that crosses it (where Serendip and Perelandra are) That was freaky.

Cool video. The whole left side of the road still freaks me out at first

I love it!You were right about the”Gun it” at the bottom. Our first trip 10years ago we looked for the cheapest car rental we could find and got a shakey 2-door Side-kick from Penn’s.The tires were treadless, which we found out AFTER we tried to go up Jacob’s Ladder while it was raining, and had to stop mid-hill for a truck turning at the top.We slid down backwards(nobody behind us)as I yelled at my husband”What are you doing!”.The poor guy. Thanks for the flashback!

What a fun ride! Thanks. Here’s a vote for a North Shore Road video– that steep switchback always brings out the screams from the passengers, and I love when it goes one way after Maho. It feels like you’re zooming through the deepest jungles of Malaysia. I also hear the drive from Catherineburg down to North Shore Road is a blast.

That was GREAT! We have been traveling to St. John for the past 20 years, and we have never been to the other side of the Westin Villas. That was very interesting and informative! I am going to show my co-workers paradise that we experience every July! THANKS FOR THE GREAT WORK! How about a trip to Coral Bay area from Cruz Bay - we haven’t traveled that way either. We like to stay very very local.

That was great. Brings back memories from May 2007. At the top of the hills, I would almost stand up in my Jeep just to make sure there was a road ahead and to see which way the road went. After a day or two, I became a pro driving the roads, but we did not have any rain at all so I never experienced that type of driving.
