I think I’m going to build an ark

Rain is NOT the water you come to St. John for. It has been rain, rain, raining nonstop for days, and every time I look at the forecast it just keeps getting worse. This may not clear out of here until the middle of the week. And there are a lot of grumpy tourists down here right now. I just saw one woman whack her hubby with a rolled up map as they were hurrying down the street in the rain. Even the locals are getting restless. A cistern can only hold so much water after all.

There isn’t much to do inside on St. John. Is there? Hey! Good question! What do YOU do on a rainy day. Or on several?

It’s a good time to check out the waterfalls that don’t exist during the dry seasons…

Too much water in the islands, no water in Atlanta. We are almost in a state of emergency. $1,000 fine for watering your lawn and they shut off your water. Please, send us your rain. My husband was on STT last week and took some great storm cloud pics. Personally I loved the rain, but I do feel for you and how the tourists are not happy. Stock the rum, um other than drinking, what ya goin’ do??? May the winds change for a minute and give you sun and me rain.

just got my 1st frost of the year…its 28 degrees according to my porch thermometer.

I’d gladdly trade it for rain in STJ.

If it’s raining while i’m there… read a book, make a puzzle. I also find rain/severe weaher makes for great photo ops

what to do in the rain………
cuddle up and drink dark and stormy’s listen to some jazz…….
I do hate when it rains on STJ ’cause then the BB Jazz does not always happen………
I used to just hang at Quiet Mon and drink or go to Pastory or Skinny’s or even Island Blues and listen to live music.
I know one of the iguana’s passed away, does that mean they are not still jamming at Island Blues?
Hey go to Mooies don’t they still do Karaoke?

I have been tryng to get St John plugged into my i-phone weather screen for months, thank you for showing me that I just needed to put in Cruz Bay!
GO get a massage, lunch at Ocean Grill, Monopoly with cocktails, Pedicures and facials, yoga class at Caneel, hearts, spades or poker tourney, shop in St Thomas, visit the boys at The Tap Room and learn about their brews, I could go on, there is alot to do in St John in the rain!

We’re leaving for STJ this Saturday. I’m so excited that the news of rain didn’t “dampen” my spirit! (I hope we’ll see the sun when we get there, though.)

In 2006 we had two tropical waves go through while we were on St. John. It rained A LOT. We passed the time by reading books (lots of books!). It was a very relaxing vacation. I got some neat storm photos too.

Now you know why a hot tub is required for a St John villa ;)

To steal a line and song title from our good friend Kenny C….”Somthing sexy about the rain.”

The best thing to do on St. John, rain or shine, is to take a dip at a beautiful beach. If getting rained on while you are swimming is not your cup of tea, you could always go somewhere and drink pain killers. Regardless, I wish I was there.

OK Jeff….you just had to show off your I Phone :-)
Did you also notice most of the lady members talked about “activities” and most of the men were thinking about sex….that tells you something….
