Beach Break: Devers Bay
There are a handful of villas on this South Shore bay, including Vida de Mar, the place we visited to gain access to this cool beach. This was shot mid-afternoon, that time of day when the sun gives the water that beautiful, silvery glow. This bay also has an interesting drug smuggling history. Ask a local about it. Devers Bay, below!

Great Beach Break, patiuclarly after a big election here in Kentucky. The question above about whether the people vid da mer are OK with outsiders visting the beach raises another question in my mind, are there any truly private beaches on the island, i.e. where only the owners or their guests are permitted?

All beaches on STJ are public beaches, although I think some owners like to think the beaches are “private” (like Caneel, Peter Bay, etc.) I think the main problem with getting to beaches like this one is access - there are no trails or anything. You would have to come by boat or walk through one of the properties on the beach to get to it.

I am a Californian who lives in Puerto Rico, a congested and stressful Caribbean island. I can assure everyone that there is NOTHING in this neck of the planet quiet like St. John, where I visit often. Great beach break, as usual, J

Thanks for the view. Had snow here in Michigan today. Can’t wait to be ON-St.John in three weeks (disney cruise), also again in April when we will be staying at Vida De Mar. Thanks for the look at my beach. Now I know what I’ll be waking up to every morning. (At least for that week!) It’s going to be a long winter!

Funny ting…we just rented that beach for a week at Vida, which we found on your website(small plug for you guys). Now I have the audio to go with the pics I’ve been looking at to fire up my synapsis. That hammock will be ideal morning, Happy Hour and Star gazing evenings.
TY so much… we soon come…
