On-StJohn.com TV: Gerald Singer
Gerald Singer has authored several popular books including the St. John Beach Guide, Tales of St. John and our all-time favorite, St. John Off the Beaten Track. Believe us, even if you’ve got no interest in hiking, Off the Beaten Track is an entertaining page turner and it’s packed full of stuff, and the latest edition includes tons of pictures. It started out as just some notes about things to do he‘d leave for folks renting his house, and before he knew it, he had a pile of information. So a book was born. Cool, huh? We had a chance to hike with Gerald one recent morning, and hear a few stories. And now you can too! Gerald Singer, below.

That was great…
Listen to Gerald’s description of how he felt the first time he got off the the airplane on St. Thomas… it immediately hit home for me. I think he pretty much summed up how we all felt the first time we landed in the USVI.
Great job as always guys!! Keep them coming!

This interview brings back memories of our first trip to St. John in 2001. I purchased Off The Beaten Track in a Cruz Bay gift shop the very first night we arrived and started reading it that night in bed at Estate Lindholm. I could not put the book down! I was captivated by the prospect of an adventure and seeing parts of the island that the most vacationers never see. Off The Beaten Track shaped our vacation and our 6 St. John visits after that. I was looking for an adventure, and Gerald Singer delivered! The history aspect of the book completed the package. Thank you Gerald for this wonderful gift! I would never have had the same appreciation of the island from that 5 day trip without that book.

Thank you Gerald for a wonderfaul guide!(and thanks guys for bringing him to us!) I pick it up almost daily and learn something each time! Can’t wait to explore some more on this trip, arriving next Saturday and you’ll find us on the trails with your book!! The same feeling came over us when we stepped off the plane 13 years ago!!

That’s a great interview! Gerald has that St John Grin– I get it every time we arrive, and it lasts for the entire visit. The trails are a blast, and a great way to feel like you’re walking back in time. Thanks for another excellent video.

We rented Monte Bay a few years ago, and had several wonderful excursions with Gerald. No better guide or companion! I’d love to reconnect with him… can you share his email address with me (or give mine to him)?
Thanks!
