Words you really don’t want to hear

“Uh, ladies and gentlemen. This is your captain speaking. The good news is that we are number 30 for takeoff. (Groans in the cabin.) The bad news is that there is a ground halt in the Northeast. Sit back and relax. It will be awhile before we take off.” (Resigned silence in the cabin.)
How long was it? I made it to page 174 of The Kite Runner before takeoff. And I read REAL slow. The Cyril E. King Airport never looked so good.

I feel you pain. We drove six hours round trip to Columbus yesterday to pick my sister up. She was supposed to be here two the day before. She spent the night in Chicago after the second leg of her first class flight from New Mexico to here was cancelled. $2700 for two first class tickets. Two days later the closest they could get her was three hours away and they still don’t know were her luggage, including her daughters new Wii spl? christmas gifts are.
