Guy Benjamin, star gazing, West Indian cooking among 2008 Friends seminars

Flip open your new Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park Tidings newsletter to page 3. There is the list of all the seminars planned for this year. There are more than two dozen of them this year, and they’re scattered from January through April. Among them, “A Glimpse Into St. John’s Past” with Guy Benjamin who will tell stories about his 90-some years living on St. John. That’s February 17. Astrologer and mythologist Kelly Hunter will lead a star-gazing night March 8. And if you want to do Yawzi Point, you can hike it and snorkel there with park ranger Laurel Brannick, or learn how to make Roti and Johnny Cake with Joyce Sprauve in April.

These seminars cost as little as 20 bucks, but the popular ones fill up fast. If you don’t get the newsletter, there is a full list of this year’s events here.

The Reef Trail Reptiles hike looks good too. Thank you for reminding me.
Your New Year party should be all to wish for. Give us some party cam if you can.

Personally, I would pay for a DVD of many of these seminars. You guys are smart, and produce videos…pitch the idea to the powers that be at the Park and sell the DVDs to dweebs like me.

    Please

Pete and I are so disappointed to be just shy of able to go to the event with Joyce Sprauve. That’s right in our wheelhouse. We’ll miss that one by a couple of weeks. Grrrrrrrrr.

Thank you for the info. though.

    Happy New Year all.

    Marcia

“A Glimpse Into St. John’s Past” with Guy Benjamin: a new DVD from Blue Tang Productions… coming soon? That would be so great! Might even raise some funds for a couple good causes…

“Astrologer and mythologist.” Rarely do you see such an honest description.
