Chilly Billy’s last weekend

Sad, but true. Chilly Billy’s will serve its last breakfast this weekend. We hear Sunday is the last day. Owners Jeff and Laura Christiansen bought the restaurant from the original owner about four years ago. And it’s been for sale for the last two years. It was last listed for $225,000.

There’s a kitchen full of food left to cook up. $2 off meals and free Bloody Marys and mimosas all weekend.

(Know how Chilly Billy’s got its name? Watch this interview with the original owner’s daughter.)

so they are closing with no new owner in site? that’s a real shame. never had the chance to eat there but from everything I hear CB has become a must-eat place!

Oh no!! Chilly’s was our place to eat breakfast on our Walk of Woe. The Bloody Marys knocked off a little woe for a while.

I’ve only been there once, yet i feel sad….

if only i had money to buy it/open it…it could be my reason to move down!

I liked that they had trivial pursuit on the tables to play while you waited for your food. Hopefully something else will go in there soon.

We enjoyed Chilly Bily’s breakfasts and light lunches for many years, but last July we found the service horrible, the noise from trucks driving by much too loud, and the food mediocre at best and stopped going altogether.

Many thanks to the Chilly Billy family. A true icon that will be missed. St John will not be the same without them. Maybe they can help me find and photograph the St John panther.

Always slow, but the food was great and the staff took the “have a great attitude” to heart and I never did mind the wait. Will miss when there next January.

Hate to hear this… it was the perfect stj breakfast spot with it’s view of Cruz Bay and the simple but hearty breakfast while you planned your day. Everyone was always wonderful to us there. You will be missed.

Hopefully a restaurant with actual caribbean cuisine will go in there. Last year the food at Chilly Billy’s was horrible - although the people eating around us were worse than the food, let’s hope the (Fried)Fish Trap is next to go.
