Kenny lists house for whopping $14M

We think Kenny Chesney’s got a right to his privacy and all, but $14 million is pretty hard to keep under the radar. The singer’s mountaintop home in Susannaberg high above Caneel Bay, which he bought less than two and a half years ago, was just listed for that eye-popping figure, tying the most expensive real estate listing in St. John history. For that price, you get an 11,000 square foot, 7 bedroom compound. Sold furnished, but no mention of an old blue chair.
Mr. Chesney may soon run out of St. John properties to sell. Last year, he sold a lower Peter Bay house for $4.8 million and an upper Peter Bay lot for $6.6 million.

good morning,
thats not a bad price being furnished and all.
lets see, we need 14 bedrooms, 2 people each,
$500,000 each, now that might be doable.
have a great week, we gonna get some snow

Any video ads to come??? I have pics of the place, but not on the inside. It is a nice property, but 14 mil? That is his last home on STJ. Where is he going? Any more info for the Kenny info starved public?
February 20th, 2008 08:35
Is that really his last home on St. John? Oh my! It’s my first trip to St. John in April and was hoping maybe I’d get lucky and see the cutie! Kenny – don’t leave before I get there!!
February 20th, 2008 08:53
Looks nice . . .but I’m sure its no Bongo Bongo.
February 20th, 2008 09:12
Snow day in SE Ohio!! I need some turquoise water shots, guys!! Thanks for update on Kenny!
February 20th, 2008 09:21
How big is the pool?
February 20th, 2008 10:31
Good. Maybe he’ll go for good and take all his annoying fans with him. He opened up STJ to many who didn’t know about it, and I for one won’t be sorry to see them go.

wow – Kenny_schmenny – you sure are rude. I”m sure he did alot to promote the island……I’d love to visit -but he had nothing to do with it.
February 20th, 2008 11:39
kenny_schmenny….what a sad, sad human you must be. no doubt there are many who made big $$$$ off of kenny in the islands. last i heard you didn’t own the entire island!
February 20th, 2008 12:06
Found this post from last year from a “close personal friend” (hey if it’s on the Internet it has to be true) of Kenny’s who says he’s selling..but seeems like he’s rebuilding elsewhere on island..scrool down to entry by JSAVELLI

Sorry Kenny_schmenny!
February 20th, 2008 12:18
Green is not a good shade for you, Kenny Shmenny.
I went to a Chesney concert here in Dallas last year, and I wore my hook bracelet, and my Woody’s shirt and hat. NOBODY, and I mean only one person out of the thousands even knew what the hook bracelet was or Woody’s. Only one person knew…the rest, well I got questions like, “Do you own that Woody’s Place?” Where is Saint John?
Kenny might have done a lot of things, but I doubt if he ruined any body’s paradise. You might as well blame Woody’s owners for knowing and befriending Kenny whlie he is on Island.
Lighten up Kenny Shcmenny, and enjoy what you got while you got it.

I hope the sale of all this property isn’t a result of a turnaround in his financial situation.
Could we be in store for another Willie Nelson ‘situation’.

…checks left pocket…nope…checks right pocket…oh! lint!…checks floor under desk…
Guys, I seem to be $13,999,999.94. Anyone got any change?
February 20th, 2008 13:36
I think he’s amassing money to buy Thatch Cay for $24 mil.
February 20th, 2008 15:04
Okay, who is this other Teresa? I wrote the first Teresa post, but not the reply to Kenny_schenny. No, as far as I know, Kenny is not building a home on STJ. He sold the lot where he was planning to build a home. He also sold his other home. This is the last home he owns on island as far as I know. (I keep clarifying because I have been wrong…once)
That trip adviser post scares me. I have pics of Kenny’s house, but won’t post them to a crazy fan who probably wants to show up at his door.
Funny story, my ex-husband is short and built like Kenny Chesney with the same blue eyes. Other than that he doesn’t look like him, but my ex would sit at Woody’s with a straw cowboy hat on and get mistaken for him all the time. I think he (ex) did it on purpose, but I am waiting to see a vacationers pic with their arms around my ex thinking it was Kenny. I know those pics are out there! I would LMAO!
Teresa (The Real One or rather Other One – Hey I know me!)

I’m in trouble now, what am I gonna do when people want to know “Which one is Kenny’s house” I hope his new one is on my route!!!!!
February 20th, 2008 18:56
He has a boat and there are many islands………..him buying Thatch Cay not a bad idea………:)
February 20th, 2008 19:09
kenny_schmenny:
Annoying fans came there long before Kenny!
February 20th, 2008 20:17
I’m not sure who the real Teresa is, but I AM sure that this is not “the last one standing.”
February 20th, 2008 22:02
Huh???
February 21st, 2008 08:24
You Teresas must differentiate yourselves with a last intital! Just saying!
February 21st, 2008 10:47
kenny_schmenny – shame on you! Kudos to all of you that gave him a piece of your mind. I couldn’t agree with all of you more. Kenny has done a lot to promote the island. If you don’t like it – LEAVE!
February 21st, 2008 11:31
Leave the guy alone. He is a human like the rest of us, who happens to have a talent that some people like, that makes him a lot of money. My family has seen him twice on island, doing errand type things. Everyone smiles at each other, that’s it. I thought we all check in here because of a common passion. Can’t we assume Kenny feels the same way we all do?I am not a country music fan,but when I do hear his references to STJ in his music,it makes me happy.
February 21st, 2008 13:50
Well I love Kenny..and I hope he stays on St. John and in the islands…I saw an interview where he looked remorseful that he had so openly discussed St. John because now his privacy is compromised..It is where he loves to go for rest and privacy, and to enjoy the beauty there…
We have been, and can completely understand why he loves it there..
February 21st, 2008 22:29
Who’s Kenny Chesney?
February 21st, 2008 22:30
It’s amazing how “Kenny” can stir up so much emotion.
Shall we move on?
February 22nd, 2008 00:13
THAT’S A VERY NICE MANSION. IT MUST BE NICE HAVING A CASTLE. ON ST JOHN, THE REAL CASTLE IS NATURAL, NOT MAN-MADE. REAL HAPPINESS ON ST. JOHN COMES FROM COMMUNING WITH NATURE, WHICH IS TOTALLY FREE. I BET KENNY CAME TO THIS SAME CONCLUSION AND IS OFF TO A SIMPLER, LESS PRETENTIOUS ABODE.
February 22nd, 2008 07:57
I have observed that any time there is a post about Kenny on any of the VI sites, I see the following:
- Posts by people who are green with envy who can’t resist the urge to say mean things about someone who is more successful than they are.
- Posts by people who feel it is necessary to defend Kenny who say things that they think will make those green with envy people feel differently.
- Posts by people who feel it is possible to protect Kenny’s privacy by posting.
- Posts by people who need to insult and attack the original poster, for whatever reason.
For most of us our daily decisions involve whether or nor we can afford a St. John vacation or a new car. Considering this fact, a $14 million property listing would be newsworthy if Betty Boop was the owner. I’m pretty sure that was what the original on-stjohn.com post was about.
I’m just sayin’…….

To: It’s Human Nature.
You nailed it. I completely agree with you – thanks for your post.
February 22nd, 2008 09:58
Kenny still does own a house on St John. It is the house in which he did the Anderson Cooper interview. He built it after he decided not to build on his upper Peter Bay property.
February 22nd, 2008 12:23
Anne – you’ve got your facts all wrong. This IS the house in which he did the Anderson Cooper Interview. And KC did not build the house.
February 22nd, 2008 13:33
Anne,
That is the one that is up for sale.

Kenny’s in it for himself. He did the CNN interview to bring free publicity to the house and to himself. This means—more money for him when he goes to sell. It was very clever of him. If he cared more about the island than his financial interests, he wouldn’t have exposed the island and himself to CNN. He’s not fooling anyone.
February 23rd, 2008 01:38
i was in stj over xmas and new years. we went by peter bay to see his house but he had moved on a hill overlooking caneel bay!! all i can tell you is he had 3 cars in his garage and lots of cases of cruzan rum. i know it was his house cause the 3 card had VI plates but came from car lots in tenn. the plate on hit jeep says “imin6th” im not going to tell anyone exacts cause i wanna go back up there.
February 23rd, 2008 08:26
Excuse me, stjohnian, but isn’t that why you’re in business – if you don’t promote yourself, your business does not succeed. Who cares how much money he has or how famous he is, what is the problem with that. From what I’ve heard and read there are lots of other famous people who have been or are on island and they don’t seem to get all this flack. And yes, I am defending Kenny “It’s Human Nature” and while I’m at it what a coward “kenny_schmenny” for creating a new online name just to fit the subject. Ok, enough said!
February 23rd, 2008 10:02
Maybe he’s selling because people go to the house and look into the garage?
February 23rd, 2008 22:39
ha ha hip your so funny!!! the girls that went on our trip just had to see his house. im pretty sure he’s not selling his house either of them that overlook caneel. he has 2 right next to eACH OTHER
February 24th, 2008 19:40
St John & Teresa,
I am telling you that the house that he did his Anderson Cooper interview is not the house that is for sale. I dvr’d the Anderson Cooper interview and it shows his house perfectly. His house that he did the interview has 3 peaks in the front facing the ocean. I was just there this fall. I have pictures of the Anderson cooper interview and a picture of the house that I took myself. I love how everyone thinks they are a expert on Kenny. Take a look at the interview and see for yourself.
February 24th, 2008 20:55
Debra- Sure, there a lot of celebs that come to St. John. BUT, they don’t bring 100 million poeple with them through their own CNN camera crew in order to get more investment exposure to line their pockets evn more. In fact, Brangelina and Michael J Fox don’t even want people to know they are here.
February 27th, 2008 06:17
I’M CONFUSED …… THE HOUSE LISTED FOR SALE ON HOLIDAY HOMES OF ST. JOHN IS DEFINETLY THE
STONE HOUSE WITH THE THREE PEAKS AND IS THE HOUSE THE INTERVIEW WAS DONE AT. IS THIS PICTURE OF ANOTHER ONE OF HIS HOUSES?
February 14th, 2009 23:35
STJ has not been the same since the 50′s. Was there when the roads(?) were sand and Caneel Bay was a new place to go. Just go back and the recession hasn’t kept may away. Heard Kenny and Willie had been there round Thanksgiving. Beer is still good at Woody’s and saw Joe Biden at the Lime Inn ,(he stayed on Water Island, ST Thomas).

I had to make corrections.
