Front Yard closing, Chilly Billy’s reopening

Front Yard owners Carl Stevenson and Juan Ayala are shutting down the longtime Cruz Bay nightspot this summer. They’ve got new fish to fry. And omelets to make.

Carl and Juan are moving just up the street to the old Chilly Billy’s location and, as you can see, they’re already starting to remodel. They plan to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. “We want to be creative and different, but still offer a nice vibe and affordable food,” says Carl. Will the place (still unnamed) be a late night spot like Front Yard too? “We don’t know what we’ll do yet. This is all still new,” he says.

As for the front Yard, they’re planning their last day to be July 4th, squeezing in one last J’ouvert party. “We want to go out in style on our busiest night of the year.”

Below: Carl, wife Shaun and future nightclub owner Jake. (They should call the new place “Jake’s.”)

This site IS the next best thing to being there. Keep up the good work. Tell the truth. Are you still visiting one week per month? You sure are productive on these little jaunts!

Shaun mentioned this when we were on island recently. I’m pretty happy with this as a positive change. We’ve always liked the Front Yard, but it was a difficult setting in some ways. The old Chilly Billys location promises an all-day and night experience rather than just late night.

    Cheers, RickG

We’ve walked by the Front Yard many times, maybe in June we will pop in before they close. Breakfast lunch and dinner at the old Chilly Billy’s sounds great!

Ahhh… j’ouvert. Nothing like choking down a rum & diet at 5am. The FY was always an integral part of the j’ouvert experience.
