We learned from a young man we gave a ride to that the housing is the "affordable" type for residents who are regular people need. He plans to open a store in the area. I didn't verify the information.

We were wondering what that huge construction site was. Seems like an odd location for vacation lodging... maybe the 48 apartments and 24 townhouses are for local folks? Whatever it is, it sure is BIG. That's the one with "Skinny Dip" in front, on the way to Miss Lucy's, right?

It would appear that the only time donkeys get any respect is during an election year.

Guess we'll have to make sure we don't go 2 mph over that 20 mph speed limit, because I'm sure there will be a bunch more donkeys in the road. It's the same problem here, just different animals. In Maryland, when there's construction, the number of deer and foxes hit by cars goes way up. Hopefully there's no jeep vs. donkey accidents on STJ.

Well I gotta say I feel like a "dumb-ass".
Last time I was on STJ I thought that construction project was to improve the Calabash Boom community center and road. I didn't realize a new community was being built there. Hopefully those donkeys can find a new grazing area. As for mating.... I worked with horses and donkeys for over 20 yrs, they're not so fusy about where their mating takes place,,, just about anywhere will do for that activity.
