Jeep Cam: Ditleff Point
If you’re thinking about griping about development, put a sock in it. This is just a Jeep ride.
We thought they were just putting in roads out there. We had no idea how much extensive (that means expensive) stonework was going in too. And lots of landscaping too.
And - in an unheard of Jeep Cam move - we stop to take a look at something that made us say “wow.” Finding the path to the beach is definitely no longer a challenge.
Ditleff Point, from the point to the road…below!

The only thing I’m griping about is why oh why am I not directing the construction of one of those homes? Thanks for kicking off my Friday nicely!

Jeep cam or not it’s an interesting ride! Thanks for taking me there. Even though I’m not sure where there is!

We did that same drive just last week…and had the same “wow” moment when we saw the path to the beach. We used to hike to that beach when the point was totally undeveloped. What a difference. Not a good or bad type of different, just, “wow, what a path.”
Thanks for the video.

Thanks for another great ride! Although my OCD is really kicking in this morning; that spot on the windshield is really ‘bugging’ me….

Wow, we haven’t been to Ditleff Point for the last 2 visits - what a change - nice “path”!!! We’ll have to check it out in December! Thanks and HAPPY FRIDAY!!

LOL @ Claire. I kept wanting to wipe what I imagined was a smashed skeeter off the lens. I’m not sure where “there” is either, but I think we might be driving “there” in July to get to our villa. Thanks for the ride!

WOW!!! We used to walk the trail out to the beach there all the time! I had no idea it was such a long trip!! Seems like the ride went on for miles. Ah, no more sunbathing in the buff. How sad.

Great ride, but I must have OCD, too. I kept wanted to turn on the windshield wipers!

As Pete mentioned, we discovered that path to the beach a couple of weeks ago. Quite the upgrade from the old walk down to Ditleff where on our first hike 8 years ago, we stumbled across such interesting things along the way as handcuffs on a branch and a nude guy on the beach.
The stone work really is very beautiful. There are colorful shells embedded throughout which makes the walls more of a work of art than simply functional. We thought it was pretty humorous that they have cleared a great deal of the trees and native brush and planted a good number of palm trees at the end of the path to the beach.

happy friday-
nice job on the video-
did anyone know that there will be 34 homes
at ditliff point-each lot (without a home) is
going for 1 million plus. each lot is a
little more than a acre. wow….
i drove the road last year and it is a beautiful
site from out there. i’d be happy with a piece of
land and a home for 1 mil.
have a great weekend

Are the areas with the new walls and the path public lands or private properties?
May 16th, 2008 17:41
thanks for the ride…interesting to see what’s going on…

read www.ditleffpoint.com for the particulars,”St John for the select few” they write, but it will be private.

Very nice! Rainy again in New Jersey! ARGH!!

Nice drive. I remember walking the trail to the beach. There were many more trees then with wild orchids on them. Guess they are gone now with the trees.

I saw a message from Doug that the area being private. That should be most interesting as the VI government is currently working on or just passed a law that “all” beaches are public and access has to be made from the land to the beaches for everyone not access from the water only as it was in the past. We’ll see when the gates go up and the water access fight begins!

Planning on vacationing near Ditliff Point next summer. We are renting a villa that faces the Point. Worried about rumors of construction. So disappointing. Are there a lot of homes/condos going up on that piece of land? Should I bring a hard hat? So this “path” you speak of… it goes from the road down to that little beach on Klein Bay that I would be looking at from my rental?
Getting harder and harder to find paradise.
Thanks for any input you can give.
