Island inflation

St. John’s not immune to inflation. Gas, utilities, food are all going up. So is the cost to get to the island. The $300 St. Thomas airfare is probably gone for awhile.
But hey…if you smoke or you drink rum, you can still do both of those amazingly cheap. Pass the rum. That last plane ticket nearly broke us.
And enjoy these grapes…$6.69 a pound. That’s $15.92 worth of grapes.

Take those grapes back to Starfish and get 4 bottles of (cheap)rum instead!

With the great weather on STJ, I think I would grow my own food!!!

Surprised gas is that “low”. It’s about to crest $4 here in NC. Just yesterday I wondered how high it had gotten on StJ.
And…not that I bring grapes with me on vacation, but there’s a good reason I fly a cooler of frozen food down there with me.

that’s really cheap for gas! i just paid 4.42.gal to fill my tank last night….
damn illinois/chicago taxes. thank god for efficient public transportation. anyone want to build a train route from chicago to the old texaco station?

robbo – you beat me to it. Here in Chicago it’s about $4.40. I wish I was paying that STJ price.
While we’re talking about ridiculous prices, we once saw a bag of terra chips at the starfish for over $9.

Well here in beautiful Napa, California we are pay $4.05 gallon for regular, some towns closer to San Francisco are paying $4.59. Surprised that Chicago is so high. Wow!! So I guess $4.39 is a deal.

Today, diesel here in southwest Michigan is $4.79.
It’s $$$ enough to fill up a car…I don’t know how long those truckers are going to be able to fill their tanks… arrrgggghhhh!… (and not a pirate “arrrggghhh”)

Hey on the vague off chance that someone who doesn’t live on St. John reads this stuff could we tone this down Or were you planning on doubling the Bongo Bongo rent and making it I guess bongo boingo bongo bongo. I think ya get the point the more you talk about price inflation the deeper the recession gets.Dig it?

Recession will be over in one year. Oil will be at 75 dollars per barrell. Mark my word; I have a friend high up in oil industry who is very respected and made this prediction.

Headed there this weekend! Taking some frozen food in a cooler, but some things you just gotta buy there…curious as to the current prices of a few items like half-and-half, milk and eggs. Thanks
