Rum punch and greeters coming to Cruz Bay ferry dock

After a hiatus, the free rum and happy tourism greeters have returned to the St. Thomas airport. Now the Cruz Bay ferry dock will soon get something similar. The Tourism Department plans to roll out a mobile greeting station this fall that will be staffed every day by greeters handing out free flavored rum samples. It is also looking to fill those greeter jobs right now. Applications available at Tourism Department offices. (Job requirements: Good people skills, big smile, steady pouring hand, knowledge of location of nearest public restrooms.)

Sounds like a (free bar at the end of the dock) good idea!

Sounds like the soon to be illegal “barkers” in downtown should sign up! YUM!

After paying $800 for a plane ticket and spending my entire day in airports and planes, I think I deserve a free dixie cup of rum punch, so this is welcome news.

I don’t know Carol, but I think Ruth would be a lovely addition to the VI Tourism team!

Everyone else can apply for the greeter/bartender position…I want to apply for the rum taste-tester/quality-control-guy…where do you apply for THAT job?????? We still have a number of bottles of Cruzan from our trip in ’89. Does rum get better with age?????

That is, indeed, good news. There are some huge gaps on the trip where rum is not available… ie in the cab, on the ferry… and this will help. Rum certainly makes the airport and the ferry dock more bearable…

Sounds like the ideal job! BUT, I don’t think it will pay the bills. See you Thursday!

I am not sure this has been thought through. . . we are all drunks here on St. John and we will certainly have all the rum finished by the ten o’clock AM ferry and not a single vacationer will have a taste of the Cruzan finest!

I am not sure this has been thought through. . . we St. Johnians love our liquor and we will certainly have all the rum finished by the ten o’clock AM ferry and not a single vacationer will have a taste of the Cruzan finest!

LOL @ Josh – It must be true. :) Does it also cause short-term memory loss? ;)

It is good news to hear the rum ladies are back. Ten days and counting!
