Parrot Club to include Roulette, Black Jack

The soon-to-open casino at Wharfside Village will have big, electronic versions of a Black Jack table and a Roulette table, complete with virtual dealers. Not quite the real thing. It will also have 70 video slot machines. The casino, to be called The Parrot Club, is now hiring for bartenders, floor hostesses and “cashiers with banking experience.” (The house intends to win.)

It includes a full bar and an arrangement with close-by restaurants for some kind of food service.

It’s also got fancy, Vegas-style carpeting, a dozen or so surveillance cams in the ceilings, and will employ its own security detail.

Look for the Parrot Club to open sometime in early to mid-August. The machines are being put in place and plugged in as we speak.

Stop in if you’re interested. Walk right on by if you’re not. That simple. It’s not going to change the social fabric of St. John, which - just a quick reminder - is hardly an Amish village anyway. Lighten up panic people.

I can deal with it as long as I get my free rum punch at the dock.

Any update on the rumored strip club?

It looks to be very tasteful and will surely be very popular with certain locals and visitors alike.

It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but there are millions of people that love to gamble, especially while on vacation.

Makes no difference at all to me and really, it shouldn’t to anyone else.

Where is it located in the Wharfside complex? I’m sure it’s been posted, but I don’t remember. I know if it’s got A/C, the smoking isn’t too bad, and if it has nickle slots, I may swing in just to cool off and giggle for a while.

Gents - You probably opened a can of worms with this one.

    I say …. baaah … whatever.

Just remember a “sucessful” business on STJ means that it was open for more than, what, 2 years?

I have other addictions that involve rum drinks, beach sand and palm trees that will keep me out of that place.

Looks upscale and sounds like a fun place to stop in for a little while! Wish them the best!

If more people visit to gamble…the beaches should be less crowded!!!!

I live not to far from Atlantic City - this is just a hole in the wall compared to AC. I do have to tell you that I am not a big gambler, but, every year when in St. John I need to get my “Virgin Island rub off” lottery tickets. It is sorta a tradition.

I like to think of gambling as a “stupid tax”. Take a look around, there is a lot of money to be made here!

Rob- The Parrot Club is at the old Larry’s Landing location, across from Shae Designs and Waterfront Bistro. There isn’t much to do at night other then eat wonderful food and go to the bars, so hopfully this will give some of us something else to do at night.

If they have free drinks, my routine is feed a five dollar bill into the machine, hit “cash out” (ching ching ching)… everyone thinks you just won, then feed those nickels back into the machine, hit cash out again (ching ching ching)… everyone thinks you won again… meanwhile the free drinks keep coming, everyone thinks you’re winning, and you leave with your five bucks (now in nickels) and a healthy free buzz. Works in Vegas, should work in the V.I.

NOTE: this will not work if you actually like to gamble.

that would have worked in the old Vegas…but not in the new one.I only know of one hotel in town that still pays out in actual coins!

I really see nothing wrong with this club opening. I just hope they have more up to date slot machines than the places there do now. I agree if you dont like it then dont go in.

I mean it is not like they are putting slots on Trunk Bay…right??????
