Recognize this hillside?
This vintage postcard can be yours, but only if you move quick. The Ebay auction for this postcard ends tomorrow.
Do you recognize that hillside? That hillside is Peter Bay Estates before there was a Peter Bay Estates.
Say what you will about development but we’d bet a HUGE percentage of the revenue that flows through St. John – guests, employment, construction, taxes -is directly from Peter Bay/Upper Peter Bay. (And they are also some of the most beautiful, well-crafted villas in the Caribbean.)
So, the postcard is under $5 at last check, and there’s only been one bid. What are you waiting for?

Rats, someone keeps outbidding me.

Jeff, is that you bidding against me? STOP IT RIGHT NOW.

Actually, I think Peter Bay is a blight compared to this, and was the beginning of the end of the “old” St John. And, most of those villas are hardly beautiful – they’re a little over the top shall we say?
Just my opinion (haven’t had my coffee yet)

I’m glad I checked comments before logging on to bid. I’d feel terrible if I bid against Ruth. Ok – if I knowingly bid against her.
I still can’t believe I got a copy of “Grandma Raised the Roof” for only $65 – the last time I saw one on e-bay it went for over $120.

I agree the development is getting out of hand. Really, if someone needs a gourmet market, hotel, casino, etc there are numerous islands to chose from. why ruin the charm of stj?

Hey, I just got it for free! (Drag ‘n’ Drop, or Right Click…) A beautiful JPG, suitable for digital framing.

Great! Were you the one who kept outbidding me for the real postcard?
August 1st, 2008 22:26
No, I just copied the picture out of the eBay window to my desktop. It’s still available for $13… usually if you keep getting outbid someone has set a fairly high max bid and it automatically rebids until you reach that amount.

Note to self…. next time I have something on eBay, casually mention it here…

Come to think of it, I have an original, vintage, one of a kind Marsh family cattle branding iron from ST John, of course. Thought about puting it on ebay, but think not too many people look for ST John antiques!
