I’d love to run the numbers for ya, but let’s just say the WAPA bill is one of MANY expenses involved with running a rental villa. It’s not really a big money-making business – breaking somewhat even is the goal.

I’m just guessing, but I bet there a few other expenses involved in the short-term rental business besides the WAPA bill. Like the villa management company, cleaning, pool maintenance, insurance, landscaping, repairs, improvements, general maintenance and taxes, for starters.
I could be wrong, though, that’s not the business I’m in.

$1516.30 for Bongo Bongo in august seems high, but it was completely rented which is close to $18,000 gross for the month based on the high season rates. I would say it’s one thing for people that live modestly on island paying that much with no rental income being a huge burden, but a multimillion dollar rental with a roughly 8.5% of gross utility bill is a whole seperate matter.

When I went last year, I went in one of the other bedrooms and found that someone in our group had left her air on and gone off for a day sail. I shut it off for her. So, I’m sure some of the people staying in villas have no common sense or manners.

Here in Nashville, our electric is going up 19 percent next month. The TVA is the WAPA of the South!
