Cruz Bay haircut

You can’t just go around pruning big trees, especially ones on a beach. But the trees along Cruz Bay had gotten so big and low-hanging that they were starting to take over the beach itself. And they were also creating little hiding places for the occasional trouble causing slackers.
With CZM permission granted, Wharfside just had the trees cut back. Just enough to fix the problems. Now you can walk from the dock to the Beach Bar without wading in the water. (Unless you want to of course.)

A few weeks ago while eating lunch at the Beach Bar, guys were up in that tree just wacking away branches when a local (looked like a local) snorkeled up to the shoreline and took a nap. Snorkel gear still on, legs in the water, branches falling down all around him. We thought he was dead. Boo said, nah, just sleeping.
Now that’s a power nap!!

What the heck is that hose-looking thing? My bad eyes seem to see the box as holding a turkey fryer rig? Are they pumping grease int o it for a turkey fry-off on the beach?

Oh mon… This is a travesty! Half the fun is watching people who feel they need to wade out into the water to get past the tree. Some make it, some don’t. It’s like watching a nature show on natural selection. Can we put the branches back?? Nick

Oh great!!!
Now where is a trouble-causing slacker like me going to stay when I come to St. John????

Given the economy, I like the idea of sleeping in trees… maybe we can afford another trip this year after all.

Nothing wrong with being a slacker, just dont cause trouble and the trees live. =0)
