Opening soon: Crazy Cracker’s
Meet April and Dave Wolf, who have taken over the old Duffy’s Love Shack in Cruz Bay. They’re transforming the space (which had a brief reprieve as Lizard’s Landing before closing down a couple of years ago) into Crazy Cracker’s, and hope to open in early December.
The Columbus, Georgia couple brings an extensive club and restaurant background with them, and say they are creating a fun, party place with affordable food and good music.
But first, there is much work to do, and their posse, many of whom came to St. John with April and Dave, are rolling up their sleeves and getting to work renovating the two story space. (Or, in the case of Jose and Dustin, below, doing away with sleeves – and almost everything else – altogether.)
Read our interview with April and Dave. Learn about their plans for food and fun, and how Crazy Cracker’s gets its name, here!

Ok glad to hear about the new bar, but the speedo pressure washing is just wrong on so many levels.

Good Luck to April and Dave !!! Sounds like just the place we are always looking for. Hope Jose and Dustin will stay on after you open.
November 19th, 2008 07:24
why wouldn’t they hire some people who alre4ady live here instead of bringing their cracker friends with them. kinda rude.
November 19th, 2008 07:37
I doubt that April and Dave will be able to run a business without hiring people who live here. It makes sense to me to bring along a team of trusted friends and employees to get a job like this done quickly. If they know people who will power wash in their high-tech lycra swimming gear, good for them!
I’m sure they’re accepting applications. People who live here who have a great attitude will be welcome, I’m sure.

Withheld is obviously new to the islands. Welcome.
November 19th, 2008 08:34
Congrats on the wedding, April and Dave, and best of luck on the new venture! We’ll see you in May!
November 19th, 2008 08:46
Maybe they’ve brought their own people with them because they like them. Wish my boss would say “Wanna move to St.John!”
November 19th, 2008 09:26
Good Luck keeping the drggies away from your place at night. All the renovations on this planet can’t help that factor from ruining your business….
November 19th, 2008 09:28
Boy oh boy they are brave opening up a new business in this econmy especially down there! I wish them lots of luck and happiness. AND I look forward to checking out the new place!
November 19th, 2008 09:42
Umm…what now? Can we have a Nightmare Fuel tag on posts like this?
Do it for the children if nothing else.
November 19th, 2008 10:06
I’m wondering about the middle picture… is the lizard on the wall (to the right of the post), real, or is it a decoration????
Kinda looks like one of the lizards from Russ’ video day before yesterday!

Sis makes a good point, even if a bit rude.
There was a time Duffy’s was a fun and safe place. Let’s hope these folks will make it that way again.
Welcome Dave and April.

November 20th, 2008 08:27
I was going to make this a place to visit when we come down next May. After scrolling down and seeing the speedo advertisment, I might just have to hold off on that visit.
Just joking!
Good luck with your new adventure.

Keep the drugs & druggies out of both “alley ways” heading into the place light up that space and it sounds as if you are in for a huge success. Good luck.

How could you not be successful with hot guys in speed-o’s?!!
January 9th, 2009 13:42
I like this couple..I have a good feeling about them..I hope they do keep the wrong crowd (aka drug people) away. Seems like if they do that, they will have a success on their hands, and I am looking forward to checking it out. I hope to be there in December..Good luck and blessing to you both..
January 9th, 2009 13:43
Oh, it just dawned on me, that they might be opening Dec 08 not Dec 09….Is this place open, or will it be at the end of 09?
January 9th, 2009 13:51
It opened last month to positive reviews.
Jeff.

March 17th, 2009 21:16
we just spent a week in st john (sunset ridge) and stopped in at crazy crackers on our first night out. We were therre for $1 margaritas and got to know the staff including DJ Styles. We promised we would come back for 80′s night and we ate this time. I got the blackened mahi mahi wrap which was delicious and my girlfriend got the burger. The food was great and the prices affordable. much more affordable than the beach bar or high tide, but the food was just as good!
March 22nd, 2009 22:15
Ate at Crazy Crackers tonight – friendly staff – great food – reasonable prices too. But I left 2 posters from the Blues Fest at my table (upstairs along the rail). Would you be able to hang on to them til we make contact??
Thanks.
March 22nd, 2009 22:21
PS – I live on St Thomas – won’t be that long til we get back.

Hope all is well with you both April & Dave. We would love to hear from you guys. Is it beautiful there. It is finally not raining today! In the high 60′s.
Look forward to hearing from you. Uncle Cary and I would love to come visit this year. Maybe we can save and come down. When is a good time to visit?
Love to you both!

Well done cousin! You are living my fantasy. You look exactly like your father, Skip, and I would love to share childhood photos with you, as well as geneology info if you’re interested. What have you and Lynn and Chris been up to all these years? And can I get some sort of family discount if I come down to your place on vacation??? HA!
