A day without power is like…night

A day long power outage that started around 8 a.m. on St. John (thanks to trouble on St. Thomas) stretched into evening, and then Tuesday night. Lots of places closed down for the day at sunset.
It’s not often the national media picks up on VI power outages. It made the cut today.

So what does that really mean? You can light candles, but do you need electricity for the water pumps to work? will toilets flush? Once those stop working… the party’s over.

So you are on vacation with the women you love
There is no power and the stars are brighter than you have ever seen them
The bars are closed – I guess we have to hang out in the villa
Dinner consisted of a bottle of Red Wine with Cheese and crackers
Sitting in the villa pool you decide to turn in early…
Now how much did you have to pay WAPA to make this happen?

Tom, I’m with you. Magic comes from moments like that.

I can certainly think of worse places to be during a power outage. Does that mean there was no “frosty cold air condition” at Bongo Bongo?

Balcony is still open for dinner and lunch (thank you generators!) Some great food too! I had the parpadell pasta with veal ragout, yumm!

It’s like the way is used to be 20 some years ago! No refridgerators in the room – only ice buckets. No fans or AC, just ocean breeze. No computers …
How did we survive St. John’s in the 1980′s???
Happy Thanksgiving!
