Arts and crafts fairs
The biggest gatherings of local artists in Cruz Bay are for the Arts Festival and during Carnival, but there are arts and crafts bazaars several times throughout the year. If you go, don’t just wander around. Stop and talk to some of these artists. They’re always really interesting people. Like these folks.

Alton Evans always has great jewelry and a good story to go with each piece.
I think we just witnessed Jeff do the SJ equivalent of a COSTCO/Sam’s Club sample day… No wonder my jar was partially empty…

Great stuff!
I love the island – hand made jewelry.
Hope they are all down during Carni-val!

St. John should have an open-air flea market (i guess that is what you would call it) like they have over on St. Thomas. I love the local crafts, and I only bring island-made gifts home.
A few years back, my children go conch shell (horns) they thought that it was soo cool. Now, I collect wind chimes, hard to find but, when you do, they are a treasure.
Can you put this recommendation in at a community meeting? We are there in July, right after carnivval – a few weeks short. Great revenue idea for the local economy.
Thanks!

That looks like fun! All those exotic concoctions are intriguing… love to try some. We’ve never seen any fairs, but will keep an eye out next time.
