The latest great plate submission

There is obviously a huge DC-area love affair with St. John. Here’s On-StJohn.com reader Amy Farris’ submission.

This St. John Girl drives a Mercedes. In DC.

Bet she doesn’t complain about paying $7 for a hot dog. (With a view and music. And fries. And somebody to get it to St. John, and to to pay the kitchen staff to make it for her. And do the dishes.)

Enough with the sunsets, sunrises, car plates. plugs for artists – “Where’s the beef.” Got any news, events. dirt, arrests, gossip? What happened to the Jeep Cam? You guys run it off in a ditch.

I couldn’t agree more Mike. Talk about gag reflex. Want me to line up my 9 cars and take a pic? Really!

I guess the wanna-be natives are restless this morning.

    Harsh Guys!

I used all the money I save by not renting in Peter Bay to buy a car ;-)

I take back the $7 hot dog comment. I happened to look at Banana Decks menu the other day and they also charge $7 for a hot dog…it comes with fries, though. I guess that’s the going rate in STJ.

Oh, and Jorge, take your pill.

Pete, you also noticed that the Banana Deck offers the “Cheeseburger in Paradise” but, if you want cheese on it, it’s an extra $1.00. Nothing against the joint but, that seems a little silly, dontcha think?

Stop nickle & diming …bring your own cheese.

I would LOVE to have a car like Flip Flop!

For a minute there I got excited because I thought the headline said “The LAST great plate submission.”

I’ve started this message four times and put my thumb on some key and got it erased. Anyway, ok. ok, I look to be entertained on this site and lately it has not been very rewarding. I can go to a number of St. John sites and see suns either raising or setting. I can see license plates of various types. I and maybe I’m wrong, but people who tune in are looking for that “edgy” presentation that Jeff and Russ have historically and normally presented and as of late that is not occurring. Just my opinion.

Oh yeah, Xislandgirl that qualified me as a “wanna be native” didn’t read my book Keep Left nor has constructed anything on St. John as I have done several times.

Mike – Yep that is a Nantucket “yellow dog” sticker … in honor of my first child, Butter the wonder dog … a yellow lab. She’s 8 going on 6 months. No one told her she’s not a puppy anymore.

OK, I LIKE sunsets, sunrises, car plates and plugs for artists. I do miss the Jeep Cam, and beach breaks though. And wasn’t there a clip from a boat ride? I enjoyed it.
On the other hand, Wade does nothing for me.

I live in the DC area too, so I am going to be on the lookout for Amy’s car. I wonder what an “I like your STJ license plate” wave would look like if I drove up next to her at a light.

Thanks Bongo guys! I enjoy this site. Thanks for keeping it up.

Funny I saw a car at the gas station today with a STJ sticker. The first one for me in this area other than my buddy’s and her husband’s. They even had the cutest beagle in the backseat. I should have said hey but I am a big chicken!

Well, well Mr. Mullen, you sure are a grouchy gus. (I have to give you credit, though, for how you manage to plug your book…which, of course, has convinced me never to read it.)

Jeff…keep up the good work. Keeping this site fresh on a daily basis cannot be easy. Some of us appreciate what you are doing. Thank you.

Before we start bashing Mike Mullen, I have to say he’s been very nice to me and has been way more helpful to me in regards to bulding/buying on st. john than any realtor has. I merely bought his book and we started a conversation about it, whereas I have two realtors now that one doesn’t return my emails when trying to line up some showings (last may) when I was going to be there, and a second that has apparently “lost interest” and no longer sends listings.

All I did was buy Mike’s book – he made something like 20 bucks off me, a bit less than a realtor would make, and he’s given me a ton of info through his book and exchanging emails in the past.

Rich, Mike may be a beautiful person, but his post was inappropriate. I look at what Jeff and Russ do here as a gift…we certainly don’t pay for it. I don’t think it is nice to criticize a gift.
