Honk if you like meat

If you see this guy, honk.
The truck belongs to Mike Garbo, who runs the sandwich shop at Larry’s Landing and Redbeard’s, and it turns out there’s no real motive behind the message.
“I needed a tailgate, so I cut a piece of plywood. I didn’t want to leave it blank, and I had a can of spray paint” Mike says. “I’ve got nothing against vegetarians, but I’m from North Dakota. I eat meat and potatoes. Sometimes three times a day.”
Mike also still cooks up Prime Rib Night at Tamarind Inn, and, proof that not all restaurants are suffering right now, he says G-Spot (for Garbo) had its best month ever last month.
Must be all the meat.

I’ve been tempted to catch a wild STJ chicken and eat it. The natives say they are unclean for eating because they pick through trash. Any opinions if it would be safe for eating- maybe a Maho chicken instead of a townie? I know on STT they are rounding up the wild chickens and giving them to a farmer to domesticate them.

Honk? I know you were just kidding. There’s enough honking from the kamikase construction trucks. Just wave in his mirror

I saw that truck at the Marketplace the other day, thought it might be a response to Michael Pollon and the “Omnivore’s Dilemma”.
Freddina, you can safely eat a St. John chicken– IF you can chew it.

I had lunch from there today. A delicious Tuna Melt and really good Potato Salad for $8.00.

Great job putting a “vegan traveler/blogger” post and a “honk to eat more meat” post almost back to back… there could have been a little more appropriate timing.

That’s my old truck! I shipped it down from Massachusetts back in 2004. Served me well and I hope it serves Mike well also. Too bad the kid I sold it to rolled it shortly after I sold it to him…

Hey Garbo, this is the other guy that loaned tools to fix a rashed dinghy! LOL

The G-Spot has really good food at really good prices….for the record.
As far as the chickens, they may eat “garbage” but they aren’t pumped full of hormones and other medicines. I’ve found that the wild chickens (townies or other) usually stick to “food” items when they are scratching through the mess us humans leave behind. Uh…don’t eat the kidney and livers?

The G-Spot at Larry’s is still great, but Mike isn’t doing Prime Rib Night at the Inn at Tamarind Court anymore.
