Villa details

Nancy Butterly and her husband decided to make a bedroom at their weekend house on the Jersey shore look just like a St. John villa. But this isn’t just a paint job.
Notice the details: terra cotta floors, mahogany doors and trim and brick window sills.
“The window sills were my husband’s vision,” says Nancy. “Our contractor cut off full bricks and cleverly made them look like they are full window sills. He lived on St. John for 9 years so he knew exactly what my husband wanted.”
The authenticity doesn’t stop at construction. All of the artwork and accessories are genuine too, including Kalabash wall art by Delroy “Ital” Anthony, prints from Aphrodite and pottery by Maho Bay potter Gail van de Bogart.
Nancy and her husband have been to St. John 16 times in the last nine years and have stayed in nearly a dozen different villas. And while they are not building a villa, their bedroom project was St. John all the way.
“It was triple the budget and triple the time,” she says.

I can top that! My entire house is island flair. We also have a backyard with “The Flip Flop Hut”, “Surf Shack”, and of coarse “The Lime Inn”. Complete with the summer pool, hammock and thatched unbrella and hot magenta and aqua chairs.
Did I mention that I have handmade “palm tree” shutters and the landscape of palms, hybiscus and river stone.
It doesn’t replace St. John, but, it helps when it is 12 degrees in New Jersey in the middle of Winter.

Debbie,
)
What’s your weekly rate for the week of July 5 through the 12th? We’re a family of 4, no pets, no smokers…sounds like you have a nice place to vacation

Bravo Steve.. Better inquire if the AC is on a timer!
March 25th, 2009 06:19
Hi Guys – No the air is not on a timer.
This year, unfornunately, we will not be going to St. John for the first time in 21 years. We do have our two villas at the Westin for rent (week 29&30) and week #30 is also for sale. Spread the word, if anyone is interested, please let me know.
Happy Wednesday!

Is the quilt beachy? if it is, where did you get it? it looks lovely
March 25th, 2009 20:21
Hi, Jen, the quilt is from Pottery Barn and I actually brought in 2003 when we first started talking about the project. So, it really was on island time
It is beachy, it has hibiscus and palm trees on it and the sheets are white with blue palm trees.
The dog is named Lager and he is almost 13. He does look like Maddy from the other post. He misses the old yellow 70′s shag carpet that used to be on the floor so he’s not so happy with the tile. I think he’ll like it better come the cool weather.
