I tell ya…I’ve NEVER been able to find a good Danish roofer….oops, that wasn’t politically correct….
March 25th, 2009 10:52
so the dutch can’t build a roof…lay off ‘em already. they made the world’s worst real estate blunder by selling off the island, isn’t that humiliation enough?
It has worked out nicely for us Americans though…

I have often been mesmerized by this lone building. Thoughts of how cute a cottage it would make. It holds a sad legacy.

Wait for it… wait for it …”It’s true, it’s true…that’s a true story” Yes!
No Shot of Brandi would be complete without his famous “tag line”. I love it.

I heard Oprah owned it. Apparently, someone was just joshin’ though.
Good job, Captain. Enjoyed the history lesson.

Uh Zane, the Dutch are from Holland, the Danes are from Denmark………..but you are right, the Dutch weren’t very good real estate people, they sold Manhattan for $24!!!

Great video Captain John! A little bird tells me it’s your BIRTHDAY on Thursday! Cheers to you …

Hey, I’m half Danish and I was a pretty good roofer for a couple summers back in the day…
Thanks for the story. Always enjoy the Brandi features. Happy Birthday!

I hear John’s voice and it just takes me back. Then Sweet Christina and my daughters come running “Is that new Capt. John? Play it again, play it again, turn it up, play it again. He took US there!” Yep, good stuff.
Cheers, RickG

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN!!!!

I hate to rain on the parade, but:
- Most of the Narrows is not visible from this guard house or the beach it’s on, so it would not have been a good spot to watch for escaping slaves.
- Danish builders have little to do with its current state. In the 60′s the Park restored the building – they thought they owned the island at that time. (It actually belongs to the VI govt.) There’s a plaque on the inside wall with the date and names of the masons that did it.
Much more on this can be found at “seestjohn.com’ were Gerry and I went back and forth on what it was really used for. Search for ‘whistling cay’.
