And the sprinkle tinkle bathroom is….

At Sogo’s, not a place that’s on the beaten path. Maybe it should be.
On-StJohn.com readers Pete and Marcia, enjoying a relaxing week this week at Villa Splendore in Great Cruz Bay, say they have been visiting St. John for nine years, and they tried Sogo’s a couple of nights ago for the first time ever.
“The food was wonderful,” says Pete. “Marcia had a curried chicken roti and I had grilled king fish. Both came with fried plantains, broccoli and fungi. The roti was especially good. It was a ton of food and, along with two beers, the bill came to $28.”
That’s not bad for St. John.

We have enjoyed Sogo’s over all the years of traveling to STJ. It is a clean establishmnet and they serve up excellant and plentiful food. Dinners sometimes come with 9 sides. Try the Roti, curried chicken or Kingfish.
Vel and Alfred put up some great and plentiful food for cheap and are personable hosts. Many an evening we have sat in their restaurant for hours with nary another customer coming in, save for the occaisional local. Alfred used to run Miss Lucy’s years back and cooked at Caneel before opening his restaurant. Everyone who wish a taste of real caribbean cooking should patronize this restaurant, next to Sutton Car Rental and Fred’s.

We love this place! We always go there, every trip, and it’s always one of the best meals. It’s small, friendly, not crowded, and has a couple parking spaces in front. I’ve had the Goat Stew a few times, and yes, it’s really good.

We love Sogos – so glad to see it featured here. It was recommended by Capt Phil on our first visit several years ago and we eat here multiple times each trip, usually for lunch. Sometimes we get carry-out so we can take it “home” and enjoy the view from the villa.
The food is West Indian, abundant and delicious. Try the tropical juices too – very refreshing. The owner is from Dominica and so nice to chat with. We visited there a number of years ago and enjoy hearing her stories about growing up there. Give it a try!
